Less pay, more focus 1

二月 28, 2003

Eric Thomas justifies vice-chancellors' 6 per cent average pay rise by saying that staff invariably receive more than pay settlements because of incremental drift (Letters, THES , February 14). Many colleagues and I cannot remember the last time we had increments, having reached the top of the pay scale years ago. Perhaps if vice-chancellors had their pay capped, they might focus better on the problems faced by staff.
