G-spot no longer blind

十月 31, 2013

Steve Fuller urges us to judge the continued viability of proposals from the Robbins report in terms of the best exploitation of “human capital - or talent” (“Intellectual fruit of neoliberal seedbed”, Letters, 24 October). For talent, why not use the concept of intelligence, which is at least measurable?

The idea of supporting “non-university education that is sensitive to other forms of talent” could be strengthened by employing Howard Gardner’s notion of “multiple intelligences”. This would satisfy those educationalists who are fearful of g, the well-established general factor of intelligence.
