Cheap tricks

三月 7, 2003

Phil Baty told a very sorry tale about an alleged waste of nearly £1.5 million of public money ("Virt-u dies with nothing to show but cheap porn", THES , February 28).

But words such as "over-egg" and "pudding" spring to mind, along with the expression "guilt by association".

Three times, including in the headline, we heard that the failing organisation's web address had been taken over by pornographers.

And if that wasn't enough, we got pictures, too.

I am not an apologist for the virtual university, but is it really its fault that someone squats on its patch?
