Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in Automation, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, or related areas in development would be preferred. Experience in following areas is highly desirable: Hands-on experience in electronics/electrical. Programming of Microcontrollers and embedded systems. Working knowledge of programming languages such ROS/ROS2, Python, C/C++ Programming, Knowledge of subjects such as computer vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Kinematics and dynamics. Autonomous systems, Robotics and Automation. Industry 4.0 and Internet-of-Things. Advantageous to have prior knowledge in: Hands-on experience implementation of industrial robotics systems and performing offline simulation of robotic work cells. Digitalisation skills – IoT, data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mixed reality, etc would be advantageous. Job Description As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow to join an exciting applied research project within the Infocomm Technology cluster at SIT. This project addresses the critical challenge of delivering real-time Artificial Intelligence (AI) services in Internet of Things (IoT) networks, where latency and timeliness are paramount. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end investigation of novel edge-assisted offloading strategies for IoT networks. The role will bridge rigorous theoretical work with hands-on offloading algorithm design and development for IoT networks. The core responsibility is to build and validate edge-assisted offloading strategies, complete with software APIs, through rigorous simulations and live demonstrations. This position is ideal for a researcher with a passion for solving complex problems at the intersection of wireless communications, edge computing, and machine learning, and who is eager to translate theoretical insights into practical, IoT systems. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure all project deliverables are met. Derivation of closed-form theoretical latency and timeliness expressions for cloud-hosted AI services and edge-assisted offloading strategies. The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry invites applications for the position of Professor in Nutrition and cardiometabolic health for a five-year fixed-term appointment. The position can be filled from 1.12.2026 onwards or as agreed and the position will be located at the Department of Food and Nutrition. Professor in Nutrition and Cardiometabolic Health is positioned at the intersection of nutrition science, cardiometabolic health, public health, metabolic research and food science. The professor focuses on the role of nutrition in the prevention of cardiometabolic diseases and contributes to population-based health promotion strategies. The professor should have an appropriate combination of expertise in the following areas: Nutrition and cardiometabolic health in the population: in-depth knowledge of the significance of diet, dietary patterns, foods, nutrients or bioactive food compounds in promoting cardiometabolic health. Mechanistic insights into the role of nutrition in promoting cardiometabolic health: the ability to investigate the interactions of metabolic pathways, such as lipid metabolism, inflammation, insulin resistance, and the gut microbiome. Approaches may include genetics, epigenetics, metabolomics, proteomics, and/or chronobiology, as well as related intervention trials and/or observational population studies. Food and its ingredients: the ability to assess the impact of foods, particularly functional and new plant-based products, on cardiometabolic health. Population and translational research: experience in conducting epidemiological studies, clinical trials, or translational interventions bridging basic science with public health implementation. These studies should also give an insight into individual dietary requirements and personalized/precision nutrition. The appointee participates in the development of teaching at the faculty and is also expected to work in the management teams of the degree programmes.
