Your personal sphere of play: The Postdoc position is embedded in an active and stimulating research environment at the University of Vienna. Located in the Marine Ecology group in the Department of Functional & Evolutionary Ecology, the position will contribute to our research and teaching in the fields of marine evolutionary genomics and climate change adaptation. University-internal structures and programs, such as the Vienna Doctoral School of Ecology & Evolution (VDSEE), the Environment and Climate Research Hub as well as research platforms support the qualitative education of students as well as scientific collaboration with colleagues at the University of Vienna in an interdisciplinary manner. Your field of activity: The successful candidate will work with colleagues in the Marine Ecology group led by Frank Melzner and a larger network of European scientists to understand genomic targets of selection to heat stress in mytilid mussels. The research aims to better understand, whether heat resistant populations already populate European coasts (from Portugal to the Arctic) in microhabitats characterized by higher average temperatures. Ultimately, the work will contribute to assessing the potential of mussel populations to track climate change velocity along European coasts, with implications for coastal zone management and environmental conservation. The successful candidate will closely cooperate with ecologists and physiologists, so that heat resistant genotypes can be phenotyped in detail and is expected to participate in field sampling expeditions. The successful candidate is expected to raise external funding and contribute to teaching & will be given enough time and freedom to develop her/his own research profile. Ideally, the successful candidate will generate ideas and preliminary work to support an application for an Austrian FWF Astra award or European ERC grant. Your future tasks: Active participation in research and teaching, which means: You analyze genomes of mytilid mussels and identify targets of heat selection You cooperate with physiologists and ecologists to link phenotypes and biotic interactions in the field to genotypes You participate in field sampling campaigns You lead and participate in scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international meetings. You write proposals to obtain additional funds from FWF, EU and other funding agencies You (co-)supervise Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral students in Marine Biology. You take on tasks in teaching as well as evaluation procedures. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  Job Purpose The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an academic research project funded by BCA. The project is in collaboration with IHL and an industry partner. where you will be part of the research team to develop and demonstrate Building-to-Grid Integration through Intelligent Optimization and Predictive Control at SIT’s Punggol campus. Under this job title, you will be required to establish a test bed in SIT’s Punggol campus building, benchmarking of current building energy performances, deployment of new sensors & hardware, and quantitative evaluation of energy savings. You will be required to coordinate with multiple internal and external parties for the successful deployment of technology, test-bedding, and energy performance evaluation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Candidate will be required to establish test bed in SIT’s Punggol campus building, benchmarking of current building energy performances, deployment of new sensors, hardware, quantitative evaluation of energy savings, etc. Meeting the deliverables by deployment, demonstration, and experimental studies planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe to meet the deliverables. Coordination with project internal and external team members, vendors, contractors, safety officers, for successful deployment of technology and testing. Assists in the co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students under the Project PI. Assists the PI in drafting project reports, conference proceedings, and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects. Prepares and shares a fortnightly report of results from the computations with the PI. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety, and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements PhD degree in electrical/civil/mechanical engineering or other related fields Expert knowledge of building air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation, simulation, building automation and control, sensor network, thermal energy storage, indoor air quality, heat transfer, and building energy performance evaluation.  Experience of test bed setup development, testing & commissioning, and performance analysis. Knowledge of industrial protocols, sensors, and control hardware. Knowledge of building management systems, software integration, data collection, and analysis. Industry or research lab experience is required. Strong analytical and conceptual abilities. Ability to work in a team as well as independently. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. This position will be responsible for providing relevant support to the Brain and Mind Centre's Youth Mental Health and Technology team. This includes supporting the management and delivery of a health services clinical trials and cohort studies, preparing relevant educational materials, performing fundamental aspects of clinical research work, working with clinicians, academics, and youth mental health service providers, and contributing to the efficient operation of the research work area by providing essential research support. About you undertaking a PhD or has completed an Honors year in psychology or a relevant field demonstrated experience in face-to-face patient interaction, with a focus on mental health outcomes familiar with the administrative requirements of supporting research activities possess strong attention to detail and a focus on quality when working with data experience in supporting clinical trials is highly desirable. The Role Two fixed-term full time Research Assistant (RA) positions are available at the Department of Psychology. The successful candidates will join the research project "Chasing Likes - Developing a Psychobiological Model of Adolescents' Social Media Use and Overuse Based on Social Reward". This large-scale project is led by Dr Niklas Ihssen and Prof Mary Hanley and funded by the Huo Family Foundation. You wi ll report to Dr Niklas Ihssen as the Principal Investigator and Professor Mary Hanley as Co-Investigator of the project. Funding for post one (RA1) is available from 1st August 2026 for a fixed period of 40 months (until November 2029). Funding for post two (RA2) is a vailable from 1st June 2026 for a fixed period of 28 months (until September 2028). The post-holders are employed to work on research/a research project which will be led by another colleague. Whilst this means that the post-holder will not be carrying out independent research in their own rights, the expectation is that they will contribute to the advancement of the project, through the development of their own research ideas/adaptation and development of research protocols. Successful applicants should be in post by 1st August 2026 (RA1) or 1st June 2026 (RA2), respectively.
