The University of Helsinki Research Services’ Research Management Support unit is looking for four (4) Program Managers to strengthen the coordination of the Top research areas. The positions are fixed-term until 31 December 2030, with a starting date of 1 September 2026 or upon agreement. About the positions: The University of Helsinki’s four Top research areas – Future Technologies, Sustainable Planet, Learning and Evolving Societies, and Precision Health – bring together the university’s strengths and enhance the international visibility of its research. As a Program Manager, you will promote research activities within the Top research areas and coordinate collaboration. You will support the creation of new collaboration initiatives and facilitate applications for research funding. You will operate at the interface of research services and communications, where you contribute to the impact and visibility of the research conducted within the Top research areas. Each Top research area will have its own dedicated Program Manager. The Program Managers work closely with each other as well as with experts from other service units. The Program Manager position is on the requirement level 10, with a salary of around 4,500 euros per month. The role is carried out in a hybrid format, combining on-site and remote work. What do we expect from you: The role requires strong collaboration skills, experience in research collaboration and its facilitation and coordination, as well as experience in research funding landscape. Science and research communication and societal impact play a central role in the Program Manager’s work, so we expect skills and experience in these areas. We value initiative, administrative experience, and the ability to maintain oversight of multiple tasks. You communicate effectively and coordinate the organization of joint events smoothly. We expect applicants to hold a doctoral degree and to have understanding and experience of research activities. We hope that your scientific background aligns with the theme of the Top research area you will be coordinating. The position requires excellent command of English; proficiency in Finnish is an advantage. We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral researcher for the research project DiAgnostic – Tracing Diatopic Variation in a Corpus of Old Irish. This project is conducted with the financial support of an Advanced Laureate Award from Taighde Éireann – Research Ireland under Grant number IRCLA/2023/ 2124 and is led by Professor David Stifter. DiAgnostic aims at making methodological progress in trying to answer the question if the Early Irish language, especially in its Old Irish form, showed regional diversification, i.e. dialects. We expect to make a significant contribution to the description and the understanding of the development of the Early Irish language and of its sociohistorical context, including implications for its prehistory. Work is carried out primarily within the discipline of historical linguistics with a strong emphasis on methods of digital humanities, but other aspects of linguistics such as syntactic theory, sociolinguistics, and the philology of Early Irish texts play a role as well. The position of the postdoctoral researcher will involve adding data to the project database Corpus PalaeoHibernicum (CorPH), in particular with regard to filling gaps among the major contemporaneous sources of Old Irish, as well as assisting in and contributing to other project deliverables. Salary: Post Doctoral Researcher (2026): €46,805 p.a. pro-rata (Point 1) Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
