Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano was founded as North West University in 2012 as a second state university in the state of Kano. The university took its current name in 2017 in honour of Yusuf Maitama Sule, the former politician, representative at the United Nations, holder of several cabinet posts and 1979 presidential candidate. Students are divided between the city campus in Kano and the main campus on General Buhari Way in the Kofar Ruwa district. The first four faculties at the university included education, humanities, social and management science and science and have subsequently been joined by basic medical education and clinical science. The training hospital launched in 2017 and admitted its first medical students in 2020. In 2022 it launched a collaboration with the Republic of Niger and the first cervical cancer screening laboratory in northern Nigeria. There are diploma and masters programmes in accounting and finance. Facilities include the university library, campus accommodation, the student union, support and counselling services, a health and wellness centre, ICT suites, sports centre and transport services. The Yusuf Maitama Sule University also provides its students with access to online resources, including e-books and journals, to support their research activities.

Description The Applied Interactive Multimedia laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a motivated research or postdoctoral associate to lead the design, development, and validation of material, control systems, and algorithms for next-generation soft haptic actuators and experiences. Note that the research involves significant interactions with collaborators in material science. The developed technologies will be utilized to develop digital twin and soft robot-assisted simulations in the areas of brain machine interaction, wearable haptics, and rehabilitation. RESEARCH AREAS Currently, we are seeking candidates from different research areas. The more details can be kindly found as below: 1. Industrial AI Algorithm and Autonomous Decision-Making Systems RESPONSIBILITIES Research and develop autonomous decision-making algorithms for process industries (e.g., chemical, pharmaceutical, materials, energy) or discrete manufacturing (e.g., electronics assembly, automotive, home appliances). Explore the integration of large language models and reinforcement learning for real-time optimization, fault self-recovery, and production scheduling in industrial processes. Solid research background and practical experience in one or more of the following areas: Reinforcement Learning / Deep Reinforcement Learning Fine-tuning and Application of Large Language Models Time-Series Data Prediction and Modeling Intelligent Decision-Making and Optimization Algorithms Strong programming skills (proficient in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, etc.). Research advanced process control strategies and deploy them on the center's distributed control systems and edge computing devices. Work closely with industry partners to validate and optimize the developed technologies in real industrial environments. Lecturer in Medical Education (Yr 3 Assessments)

An exceptional opportunity to be part of the founding team of the new Medical School and to have a central role in the School’s accreditation process. Our innovative programme aims to produce a new type of doctor: excellent and holistic clinicians who can drive change, delivering integrated and technologically advanced healthcare for their patients and communities. Our School is part of The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, which has a ‘One Health’ ethos that promotes understanding of a ‘whole society’ approach to health and builds on our aims to develop truly interprofessional training. The role We are seeking motivated and collaborative individuals to join our team in delivering high-quality, reliable, and valid assessments within our undergraduate medical programme. We have three part-time 0.5 FTE posts available, each with a dedicated focus on Year 2, Year 3, or Year 4 of the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) course.  Working closely with the relevant Year Lead and the Director of Assessment, successful candidates will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative formative and summative assessments, drawing on contemporary assessment theory and evidence-based methods, including knowledge tests, OSCEs, workplace-based assessments, and professional portfolios. The role includes involvement in the design and delivery of assessments across the programme. All postholders will contribute to teaching across a range of formats, including large and small group teaching, case-based learning, and clinical and communication skills sessions, as well as supporting student electives and progression. In addition, successful candidates will provide academic support through group and one-to-one engagement, contribute to standard setting, assessment design, and OSCE examining, and support admissions processes. There will also be opportunities to deputise for Year Leads and contribute to curriculum development, assessment governance, and quality assurance activities. These roles are integral to the continued success and development of the programme, reporting ultimately to the Dean of the Medical School. These roles will be offered at either Lecturer A or B level depending on your experience (see job profiles below for further details). The full-time equivalent salary for Lecturer A starts from £37,694 and Lecturer B starts from £47,389 (pro rata for 0.5 FTE). There may be scope for the roles to be clinical academic positions with a salary up to £69,488 (pro rata for 0.5 FTE).
