Wuhan Textile University has a history that dates back to 1958 when its predecessor, Wuhan Institute of Textile Engineering was established. In 1999 the institute was renamed Wuhan University of Science and Engineering. Eleven years later, the former Hubei Foreign Trade School merged with the Hubei Academy of Finance and Economics to become Wuhan Textile University.
The university is located in Wuhan, a city in central China.
There are four faculties within the university: faculty of engineering and physical sciences, faculty of arts, faculty of management, and the faculty of humanities. Each faculty is divided into different schools, which offer a variety of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
The university has developed partnerships with a number of other higher education institutions across the globe including the University of Madeira in Portugal, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the US and the Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University in Bangladesh.
