Wuhan Textile University

Wuhan Textile University has a history that dates back to 1958 when its predecessor, Wuhan Institute of Textile Engineering was established. In 1999 the institute was renamed Wuhan University of Science and Engineering. Eleven years later, the former Hubei Foreign Trade School merged with the Hubei Academy of Finance and Economics to become Wuhan Textile University.
The university is located in Wuhan, a city in central China. 
There are four faculties within the university: faculty of engineering and physical sciences, faculty of arts, faculty of management, and the faculty of humanities. Each faculty is divided into different schools, which offer a variety of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. 
The university has developed partnerships with a number of other higher education institutions across the globe including the University of Madeira in Portugal, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the US and the Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University in Bangladesh.

Your professional field of activity:

As a University Assistant (Praedoc), you will complement the research team around Univ.-Prof. Adrian Constantin, PhD. Our ideal candidate has a strong interest in Mathematical Analysis with special backround in Partial Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems, can easily integrate into our team, independently contribute to current research, and work with responsibility for results.

Your future tasks:

Active Participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	Collaboration and research in the field of partial differential equations with emphasis on geophysical aspects (oceanography, atmospheric flow):

	
		Development of own solutions as part of the research group of Prof. Constantin.
		Conclusion of a dissertation agreement within 12 - 18 month is expected.
		Membership in the Vienna School of Mathematics and active participation in its activities will be required.
	
	
	Interdisciplinary colalboration:
	
		You participate in international scientific collaborations, as well as international conerences and workshops.
	
	
	Collaboration in teaching and administration:
	
		You participate in the administration of the institute, teaching and research.
		You hold courses and examinations in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement and you (co-)supervise students.
	
	


Required Qualifications/Position Requirement:


	Master studies in mathematics, or a related field completed and certificate provided in due time before the start of the contract
	Emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Mathematical Physics and Partial Differential Equations
	Research competence & initiative demonstrated through international publications in peer relevant media
	Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
	You are a team player with high social and communicative competence and have international experience.
	You are goal-oriented and have a high motivation to strive for scientific excellence.
	You are not entitled to compensation for travel and accommodation expenses incurred in connection with the admission process.

The position

The professorship will focus on language acquisition in the Romance languages (L1, L2, foreign language acquisition, multilingualism) both in research and teaching. We expect a PhD in this field of research covering at least one of the three languages French, Italian and Spanish. The candidate should have experience and competences that cover both language acquisition theories and empirical methods of language acquisition research.

The position

We seek to appoint a tenure-track professor to conduct independent research on emerging issues and future challenges related to food safety and food security. This can include the integration of mechanistic and other studies on potential health impacts with innovative analytical approaches for food and feed. Key research areas include, but are not limited to: (i) Food safety including the assessment of co-exposure and mixture effects of food contaminants via innovative in vitro approaches and biomonitoring, (ii) novel and alternative food sources, e.g. insect-based materials, micro- and macroalgae, or meat substitutes, (iii) linking food-derived molecules and contaminants in human samples with health effects using innovative approaches, impact of microbiome on contaminant biotransformation; (iv) AI and chemometrics in food chemistry. The candidate should not have a research focus in food technology/processing or nutritional sciences. In teaching, the position will contribute to different study programs, inter alia the Master’s program in Food Chemistry, which is unique in the Austrian academic landscape.

In addition to the professors at the Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology, there are strong links within the faculty to the core facilities for mass spectrometry and multimodal imaging. The faculty also hosts the Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem), whose mission is to equip doctoral students with state-of-the-art experimental, statistical, and computational methods to address complex challenges in chemistry and beyond. Beyond the Faculty, the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the Faculty of Life Sciences, the Exposome Austria Research Infrastructure and the Research Network “Health in Society” provide extensive opportunities for cooperation with researchers from other departments at the University of Vienna.

This position is a maternity leave replacement, and it is vacant for the period of absence of the member of staff. The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. It is dedicated to innovative and problem-oriented research and provides students with a wide range of specialisations. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas.

You will join the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity (CeSCoS), led by Professor Barbara Prainsack. This research group investigates how solidarity shapes social justice, institutional design, and policy interventions across a range of domains, using rigorous qualitative and theoretically grounded approaches. The Centre brings together pre- and post-doctoral researchers and fellows from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. You would be welcome to bring and pursue your own research interests within the team.

Your future tasks:

Participation in research, teaching and administration in the field of comparative policy analysis and qualitative methods as well as in the research group CeSCoS (Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Prainsack).

This involves, in particular, the participation in the organisation of events, seminars, and other formats of academic collaboration and exchange:
