The role The Institute for Communication Systems (ICS), home of the 6G Innovation Centre (6GIC), is looking to recruit a full-time Research Fellow to work on Generative and Token-based Semantic Communication Technologies for Future Wireless Networks (this is a fixed term contract upto Sept 2027). For this opening, the successful candidate will be required to have research experience in wireless communication systems as well as familiarity with design and training of state-of-the-art large generative AI models, e.g. Diffusion Models, Multimodal Large Language Models, etc. The area of specialization for this post is Generative Semantic and Token Communication Technologies for Future Wireless Networks. ICS is the largest academic research institute in Europe specialising in all aspects of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). It is home to over 200 researchers with expertise in all communication and broadcasting systems and has developed the best-in-class large scale testbeds for research and innovation and enjoys the state-of-the-art lab and computing facilities. Established in 2012, 5GIC is the world’s first dedicated centre in researching end-to-end aspects of 5G and works closely with national and international leading academic institutes and key industrial partners. In November 2020, 6GIC was officially launched with parallel research undertaken in both 5G+ and 6G for 2030+. About you Applicants should have a good honors PhD degree in wireless communications or AI and computer vision fields and a strong track record of publications. Preference will be given to those with prior publications either in top-tier AI and Computer Vision venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, etc.), or prestigious IEEE journals (e.g. IEEE JSAC, ComST, etc.). Applicants are expected to have good problem solving and analytical skills, to be proactive, to engage with other researchers and to be self-motivated. The successful candidate will, in collaboration with other researchers, specify, design and implement the systems under investigation. About the opportunity This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) The University of Sydney Library is seeking an identified Digital Collections & Repository Specialist to support the management of Indigenous research data, digital collections, and culturally sensitive materials across the University. This role sits across research data, digital repositories, and collections, with a focus on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP). As part of the Library’s Research & Collections team, you will contribute to key initiatives such as the Digital Sydney roadmap and myResearch Sydney, including the implementation of Figshare as the University’s research repository in 2026. You will help ensure culturally appropriate practices are built into how repositories and collections are designed and managed from the outset. This supports Indigenous research and helps reduce risks associated with managing sensitive material. Your key responsibilities will include supporting the development and implementation of research data and digital collections practices aligned with ICIP principles providing advice on the appropriate management, description, access and reuse of Indigenous research data and digital collections assisting with the planning and configuration of Figshare and other Library platforms, ensuring ICIP principles are reflected in metadata, permissions and workflows developing processes to identify, manage and provide access to culturally sensitive materials working collaboratively with researchers, Indigenous stakeholders, Library and curatorial colleagues, ICT and the Research Office contributing to staff capability development and continuous improvement in managing Indigenous research data and collections About you experience working with research data, digital repositories or digital collections knowledge of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles and Indigenous data governance identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander experience developing or applying governance frameworks, policies or guidance familiarity with repository platforms (e.g. Figshare) and metadata, access controls and workflows experience working with culturally sensitive materials and appropriate access protocols. The fellowship is tenable for one year. On an exception basis, a two-year programme may be supported. Service Commitment One year for every year of sponsorship. Supported Areas for START - Health Sciences Diagnostic Radiography: Radiography involves the controlled use of ionising radiation, radioactive substances and non-ionising radiation to produce diagnostic quality images of the human body, facilitating the diagnosis and treatment of patients (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Dietetics: Dietetics involves the management of medical conditions and promotion of health through application of food and nutrition. Dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy and implement specific diet strategies for chronic medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries (Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association). Nursing: Registered nurses render health services to individuals, families, and communities (Singapore Nursing Board Code for Nurses and Midwives 2018). Speech and Language Therapy: Speech and Language Therapy involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of communication and swallowing disorders (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapy involves assessment and interventions to work or school, self-care, leisure or play, physical environments as well as cognitive, mental and physical components of function to enable individuals affected by physical injury or illness, developmental or learning disabilities, psychosocial dysfunctions or the aging process, to engage in everyday life occupations in order to maximise independent performance of life roles, prevent disability and maintain health (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy involves assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of pain, injury, or any other physical dysfunction, through the use of education, exercise, manual therapy, electro-physical agents, technology or any other treatment for those purposes (Allied Health Professions Act 2011).
