Following the efforts of prominent Ukrainian intellectual Vasily Karazin, after whom the university is named, the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was founded in November 1804 as the Kharkiv University. It is one of the oldest higher educational institutions in eastern Europe and the second oldest in Ukraine after the University of Lviv.
Today the university has 125 departments in 20 schools, as well as an Institute of High Technologies which is comprised of the School of Physics and Technology, the School of Computer Science and the School of Energy Physics.
The V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is comprised of the Main building, the Northern Building, the Central Scientific Building and the Students’ Campus. The university also runs three research institutes, a botanical garden, as well as the University History Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography.
It is the only university in Ukraine that has trained and employed three Nobel Prize winners. Elie Mechnikov was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1908 and during his time at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, he completed his four-year degree in just two years. Lev Landau was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1962 and lectured at the university between 1932 and 1937. The final Nobel Prize winner who studied at the university was Simon Kuznets, who was awarded the 1971 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.
In 2004, the university marked the 200th anniversary of its foundation with large-scale celebrations, even minting a commemorative coin!

The Role: Teaching Fellowship in Music Psychology We seek to appoint a talented individual to the role of Teaching Fellow in Music Psychology, tenable from 1 September 2026. You will contribute to high-quality teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the Department's ongoing efforts to address challenges relating to gender equality, race and decolonisation. You will very likely be required to teach the UG Level 2 module "Music and Science" ( ), contribute seminars about Music Psychology within our newly formulated MA module ("Research in Music"), and provide one-to-one supervision of dissertations at both undergraduate and MA level. Description The Haven Lab, in the Division of Engineering and the Center for Cyber Security, New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Associate position in security and privacy. The lab's mission is to provide individuals with control over their privacy and protection from digital threats. We want to work towards a future where digital services are inherently designed with user privacy and safety at the forefront. Current research thrusts involve: Large-scale measurements on the web to understand and characterize harmful online phenomena. Development of AI-based countermeasures for security and privacy, especially in on-device settings. Investigation of attacks/defenses on AI-based systems. The Role and the Department Northern Accelerator is led by Durham University in partnership with Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside - who come together through Universities for North East England (UNEE). We are seeking a skilled, creative and experienced Marketing and Communications Officer who can provide excellent communications and events support for Northern Accelerator. The postholder will also work with the programme team to support the commercialisation eco-system with a programme of excellent internal communications activity. The postholder will work closely with the Northern Accelerator and SCENE project teams, side-by-side with the Marketing Officer for SCENE. Internally our projects are separately funded, but externally you will support a strong cohesive Northern Accelerator brand across all activity. Northern Accelerator is an ambitious project strong aims and multiple partners and the role of communications will be key in ensuring the visibility of the various aspects of the programme and maintaining a strong sense of common endeavour. Ideally, the postholder will have a good understanding of innovation and commercialisation purposes and mechanisms and be able to work flexibly and collaboratively with our partners and stakeholders to design and ensure delivery of effective communication plans. They will also need to understand the purpose of our national and regional funders in allocating the resource, in order to maintain alignment of Northern Accelerator communications activity with the economic plans in the North East and national commercialisation objectives. The main duties of the post will be: Working with the Head of Regional programmes, Programme Manager and other team members, design and ensure a strong and visible communications and events plan to support the effective delivery of the Northern Accelerator programme. Co-ordinate internal communications activity between the University partners and the wider network of Strategic partners to underpin the success of the commercialisation ecosystem.
