This role offers the opportunity to lead research and teaching in innovative structural systems, modular and prefabricated design, high-performance, low-carbon materials, driving the next generation of resilient, sustainable infrastructure. As a leading figure in your field, you will: Lead multidisciplinary research programs and high-performing teams delivering transformative outcomes in structural design and systems innovation. Build and strengthen global research collaborations and strategic partnerships across academia, government, and industry. Inspire and mentor staff and students while embedding best-practice teaching strategies that enhance student learning and graduate outcomes. Contribute to School and College-level strategic planning and play a key role in shaping the future direction of engineering education and research at RMIT. To be successful in this position, you will meet the following Key Selection Criteria: Demonstrated ability to manage award program/s and lead program reviews. Demonstrate distinction at the national level and an internationally recognised research track record in structural design, innovative prefabricated/modular structural systems, and high-performance and low-carbon materials. Proven ability to sustain and grow Research Groups and Centres through the attraction of external funding, leveraging external networks. Extensive experience in attracting and supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance. Demonstrated ability to lead improvement of academic standards, including implementing best practice teaching strategies and dissemination of innovative practices in structural design of Engineering infrastructure. Evidence of demonstrated strategic leadership in a large organisational unit or University-wide initiative and effective membership of a management team that developed and achieved shared goals and objectives. Demonstrated experience in financial, governance and quality management systems within a University. Demonstration of RMIT values and behavioural expectations. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, produce executive reports, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment. This is a fixed term contract position. Job Responsibilities Support research and development activities in waste recycling, pyrolysis reactor, in the area of chemical engineering, thermal systems, and mechanical engineering. Conduct design and improvement of the existing pyrolysis system, Perform experiments, data analysis, and technical reporting. Collaborate with academic staff, industry partners, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all research activities. T'o communicate with any relevant stakeholders to ensure project can be completed. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned. Expected qualities: Serve as the process lead engineer in both design, engineering and testing of Pyrolysis Reactor Systems Involve in developing the process control narrative To generate project specifications, design philosophy, PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, operation manuals to comply with clients’ requirement To carry out process simulations and develop heat and material balances To carry out hydraulic design for pumps, compressors, blowers and develop respective process datasheets To check design outputs, datasheets and drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness to design requirements and concepts Involve in sizing the process instrument, pump and control philosophy Experience in downstream gas cleaning processes with real experiences operating a plant Knowledge in tar/PAH removal and separation Prepare and deliver various engineering related presentations, both internally and externally Support the R&D Team Knowledge in skid module base and PLCs programming will be highly preferred Possess good Solid-works skillset and/or ASPEN HYSYS/3D simulations expertise Sound knowledge in applying AI into system applications Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Thermal, Mechanical, Environmental or related disciplines).
