Vancouver Island University began life as a vocational college called Malaspina College in 1936. It then went through various transitions as Malaspina University-College before eventually becoming Vancouver Island University in 2008.

Vancouver Island University offers master's and bachelor's degrees; two year diplomas, and one year certificate programmes in a range of areas, with science, the arts and business administration particularly popular.

There are several campuses at VIU, with the main one being Nanaimo campus, which is located on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

The Cowichan campus is in the heart of Duncan, on the traditional territory of the Cowichan Tribes, while Powell River Campus is on BC’s upper Sunshine coast. The Parksville-Qualicum Centre offers a range of programmes from career and academic preparation to a series of ElderCollege programmes.

It has partnerships with a number of international universities, such as the University of Hertfordshire in England, California State University, the University of Montana, the University of Canberra in Australia and Mejiro University in Japan.

About the role: The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the full range of management accounting work within the university. Working closely with other members of the management accounting community, the role provides useful information to faculty/directorate managers to improve their decision-making, planning and control. We are seeking a curious, enthusiastic, and approachable management accounting assistant with excellent oral and written communication skills to join our Finance Business Partnering (Operations) team at King’s. You will be working in a diverse, fast-paced and dynamic environment, using a range of skills to deliver quality financial support to discerning and demanding customers. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of accounting concepts and promote the understanding of financial knowledge within directorates in their communication with non-financial stakeholders. You should have experience of working with a financial accounting system and in exporting data to produce meaningful reports to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders. Working closely with Finance Business Partners, you will respond in a timely manner to meet our budget holder needs. This will include answering queries, performing reconciliations, staff approvals, updating the staff forecast tool, processing journals, budget and forecast movements, assisting with general month end tasks, creation of new activity codes, assisting with coding changes and restructures and the provision of management accounting information. ​​​The role holder will be based at Lavington Street in Central London and is currently expected to work 2 days per week on-site with the remainder of time working remotely. As required by the business, the post holder is required to work flexibly with regards to pattern or location. This is a full time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract. About you:  To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Highly numerate, as evidenced by qualifications in Mathematics at GCSE and A level, or equivalent; or AAT Level 3 or equivalent. We design and deliver trials and related research, including coordination, monitoring, data acquisition and management, and statistical analysis. Our health economics, biostatistics, systematic reviews, and biomarker teams work with trial data to inform healthcare providers about best practices. The Clinical Trials Program Manager plays a pivotal leadership role within the CTC, providing strategic, operational and managerial oversight of complex clinical trials across their directed area of responsibility. Working under broad direction from the Associate Director, Clinical Trial Operations, this role oversees the design, establishment and delivery of clinical trials, ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, governance and performance are maintained. With responsibility for financial oversight and resource management, the role contributes to budget development, expenditure monitoring and funding opportunities, supporting the sustainability and growth of CTC's clinical trial portfolio. Drawing on extensive clinical trial expertise, the Program Manager provides trusted advice, exercises independent judgement and contributes to the development of systems, procedures and strategic initiatives that enable the successful delivery of impactful clinical research. Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide strategic and operational leadership of clinical trial operations, including trial prioritisation, feasibility, planning, resourcing, oversight, and compliance within the directed area of responsibility. Lead, manage and develop clinical trial operations staff, including performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, capability building, and fostering a high-performing, ethical and collaborative team culture. About you Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field. Extensive experience in clinical trial management, with a minimum of five years' relevant experience leading clinical trial operations, project management or equivalent roles across the full trial lifecycle in Australia. Profound knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines, regulatory and ethical approval processes, and demonstrated ability to ensure compliant, high-quality clinical trial conduct. Demonstrated leadership capability with experience supervising, mentoring, training and performance managing staff, including resolving complex HR and workforce matters. Strong financial and operational acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial oversight, workload prioritisation, and managing multiple competing priorities to achieve outcomes.
