The University of Windsor was first established in 1857 as an institute of higher education in Windsor, Southern Canada.
It was first known as the University of Windsor in the early 1960’s, following a merger of various academic assets from separate institutions.
The university operates a large campus along the Detroit River, which makes up the US border, and is itself situated in the Canadian city of Windsor, Ontario.
The campus is the location of the bulk of the university’s academic and social facilities, including an extensive array of sports facilities and a number of student bars and clubs.
Aside from this, students at the university also have access to the sights and sounds of the Canadian city of Windsor and the American city of Detroit, both of which provide a huge amount for students in terms of nightlife and recreational activities. In terms of academic options, the university offers well over 100 different undergraduate degrees across 11 different schools, as well as a number of postgraduate options.
In addition, the university has a history of accepting large numbers of international students, and provides avenues for students to get involved in research in their chosen field of study. The university has a number of famous alumni, including former Chrysler CEO Thomas LaSorda, hockey player Frank Mahovlich and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project, where you will be part of the research team to develop solutions for adapting CCS2 chargers for marine electrical vessels and optimizing DC fast charging technology for marine applications. As a Research Engineer (Electrical Engineering – Marine EV Charging & DC Fast Charging), you will be part of a dynamic team working on cutting-edge research and industry projects. You will: Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), and industrial partner to ensure all project deliverables are met. Develop and implement solutions for adapting CCS2 chargers to marine electric vessel applications. Design experiments for testing and analyze DC fast charging for high power marine EVs and assess communication integrity at various operating conditions. Test interoperability of charger with marine EVs and ensure compliance with EV charging communication protocols (e.g., ISO 15118, DIN 70121). Conduct EMI noise analysis and mitigation for high-power DC charging systems. Develop and troubleshoot embedded hardware and software for charger communication and control. Work on energy storage integration for marine charging infrastructure. Collaborate with industry partners and regulatory bodies on marine charging standards and DC fast charging protocols. Support knowledge transfer, prototype development, and system integration. Carry out Risk Assessment and ensure compliance with Work, Safety, and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors/suppliers to support project needs. Work independently, as well as within a team, to drive research and development efforts Job Requirements Degree/Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fields. Strong knowledge of DC fast charging, energy storage systems, charger communication standards, and power electronics. Experience in charger communication protocols (e.g., CAN, PLC, Modbus, IEC61851). As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on a research project where you will be part of the research team to develop yeast and fungi for food ingredient and biochemical production. The specific goals are: Metabolic engineering of Yarrowia and Candida yeasts for organic acid production Design and optimization of fermentation method in 10L and 100L stirred tank vessels Key Responsibilities: Fulfill the primary responsibilities within the project: i. Deliver structured presentations of research plans and findings every two weeks. ii. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior research engineers and undergraduate students working in the same research field. iii. Prepare scientific manuscripts for reporting and potential publication (as first or co-author). Prepare writeup for new research grant application Support undergraduate lab class conduct where applied research outcomes are utilized in undergraduate teaching. Conduct thorough risk assessments and ensure adherence to work, safety, and health regulations for all research activities. Coordinate procurement activities with licensed vendors for research items. Job Requirements: Have a relevant PhD degree in Biochemistry or Biochemical Engineering Have at least 1 year experience with the metabolic engineering of Yarrowia and Candida yeasts, including foreign gene expression and gene deletion. Have at least 1 year experience with the use of bioreactor, HPLC-MS and GC-MS. Prior experience in the genetic manipulation of filamentous fungi cell line engineering is advantageous.
