The University of Toledo (UT) is a public metropolitan research university renowned for its beautiful, scenic campuses.

Located in the city of Toledo, Ohio, UT is a student-centred institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Established in 1872, the university became a member of the state university system in 1967. In the summer of 2006, it merged with the Medical University of Ohio to create the third-largest public university operating budget in the state.

Today, UT is one of 14 state universities in Ohio and its main mission is to ‘improve the human condition’.

It offers more than 300 undergraduate, graduate and professional programmes, and counts law, engineering, business and occupational therapy among its nationally ranked programmes.

Day and evening classes, as well as online programmes, are also available for students at associate, bachelor's, graduate and doctoral levels.

The main UT campus comprises nine modern residence halls, a student recreation centre, a gothic bell tower, cutting edge classrooms, a football stadium and basketball and athletics complex.

Sporting the colours midnight blue and gold, university sports teams are known as The Rockets, a shortened version of ‘Skyrockets’, a name dating back to the 1920s.

In 1961 the university procured a one-ton rocket from the US Army, which became its symbol of pride. The rocket sits at the northeast corner of the Glass Bowl football stadium, pointed towards neighbouring Bowling Green State University. It is said that if the rocket were to be lit, it would land on the 50-yard line of the Falcons' Doyt Perry football stadium.

Toledo itself is an industrial and entrepreneurial city, known for its car assembly plants and glass manufacturing (hence its nickname ‘The Glass City’).

The campuses at UT offer 200 student organisations, as well as art exhibitions, athletic games, theatre performances and talks by public figures such as the radio host Robert F Kennedy Jr. and the author Toni Morrison.

The Chemical and Biochemical Sciences-Green Process Engineering at the University of Mohammed VI Polytechnic Benguerir Morocco seeks Postdoctoral applicants in Proteomics and Drug Development.  Job/Project Description: Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, is crucial angiogenesis in tumor growth, proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. Advances in molecular biology have identified critical biomolecules involved in this process, making anti-angiogenic treatments a promising cancer therapy strategy. Common treatments include monoclonal antibodies and tyrosine kinase inhibitors targeting the VEGF pathway. However, challenges like adverse events, drug resistance, tumor recurrence, and lack of biomarkers limit their effectiveness. Further research into angiogenesis mechanisms, drug development, and combination therapies is needed to enhance therapeutic outcomes. In recent years, a significant research focus has been combining angiogenic and immune checkpoint inhibitors. Compared to monotherapies, this approach has shown improved clinical benefits in hepatocellular carcinoma and renal cell carcinoma patients treated with a combination of PD-1 and VEGFR-2 inhibitors. To address the challenges of anti-angiogenic treatment and explore emerging strategies to enhance its therapeutic benefits, we are focusing on the development of novel anti-angiogenic drugs against specific biomarkers as potential clinical candidates.To meet our objectives, we have collaborated with colleagues from Canadian, USA, and European universities, and we are equipped with OMICS state-of-the-art technologies. About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is an entity of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program of international level, in order to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, in particular on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions.  Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of all transformations in order to propose new original alternatives in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainability. Job Description CBS is looking for a post-doctoral fellow in process systems engineering, and particularly in modeling, simulation and optimization of the phosphate value chain processes. In terms of research, the candidate will reinforce the team of the CBS department. His/her experience and expertise should enable him/her to contribute and pursue research activities on industrial subjects relating to chemical phosphate manufacturing processes. The candidate will also participate in the supervision of internships, projects and practical work related to the above-mentioned scientific fields. He/she will play an active role in the life of the program, organizing seminars, workshops and conferences related to the chemical and Process Engineering stream. The candidate will also be expected to participate in UM6P's collective projects and external missions, and to provide support to students (PhD and Master), i.e., supervision for the writing of reports, dissertations and end-of-study papers. Skills Expertise in the following fields: Chemical and process engineering. Modeling (first-principles and data-driven models), simulation and optimization methods. About ACER CoE: The centre has been recently created to address enduring process challenges in Chemistry and Engineering disciplines and create an environment for interdisciplinary research. The research program of ACER is multidisciplinary, with faculty members from backgrounds in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering focusing on different research fields such as catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, and organic optoelectronics intelligent and advanced polymers and materials. Project description: The Lithium-ion battery comprises multiple individual units known as "cells." Any deterioration or degradation in a single cell directly impacts the battery's overall performance and lifespan. Therefore, it is crucial to have a monitoring system in place for close oversight of this critical component. The battery management system (BMS) unit is not just a component, but a crucial element tasked with monitoring each cell of the battery and running algorithms to calculate state of charge (SoC), overall health, and more. For instance, in electric vehicles, the BMS carries out functions such as monitoring, controlling, optimizing, and ensuring safety to mitigate potential hazards related to battery performance. Its role is pivotal in the overall performance and safety of the vehicle, underscoring the importance of our work in this field. Various algorithms, models, and signals control different components of the BMS in lithium-ion batteries, including sensors, actuators, and controllers. In our facility, we are establishing a research unit focused on developing the necessary hardware and software components of a BMS to keep pace with the advancements in lithium-ion battery technology. Candidate Profile: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field. An in-depth expertise in batteries and renewable energy systems including fault detection, diagnosis, and performance improvement methods. Mastery of dynamic reconfiguration approaches. Mastery of power converters. Mastery of software tools including MATLAB, PSIM, Proteus, LabVIEW, SketchUp, SolidWorks, etc. Knowledge of microcontrollers, STM32, FPGAs, etc. Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, Profibus, Modbus, CAN, MQTT, and HTTP. Knowledge of the ROS environment. Undertake original research of international excellence. Engage in innovative international research of outstanding quality. Prepare papers for indexed journal publications, propose invention patents, and/or actively participate in sharing results at national and international conferences, workshops, and meetings. Communicating the development, progress, and results of research tasks to the research project team to identify the requirements for future activities. Develop collaborative links with the core scientific staff in related program areas to gain exposure and build knowledge on experimental/research activities and approaches and improve conceptual development and implementation. Participate actively in the drafting of research project proposals and the pursuit of funding opportunities. Supporting the purchase of appropriate equipment and managing relationships with international suppliers.
