We are seeking a Senior Manager, Industry Engagement to join Industry Engagement, International and Business Development, Chancellery Division. The Office of Industry Engagement is seeking an accomplished senior business development professional with deep expertise in the commercialisation of biosciences, biomedical and related data driven and translational health technologies, and a strong, established network within the biomedical and health industry. This role plays a central part in building and progressing high value industry partnerships and major research initiatives. A demonstrated track record of converting trusted industry relationships into significant research funding, investment and real world impact is essential. Working closely and collaboratively with researchers and senior stakeholders across the university, the Senior Manager develops and manages strategic partnerships across private and public sectors to grow QUT’s research capability in health and biosciences. The role also supports effective knowledge transfer to industry, including facilitating the protection and licensing of biomedical and health related technologies arising from QUT’s intellectual property with a strong industry engaged focus. The Office of Industry Engagement (OIE), within the Portfolio and led by the Chief Commercialisation and Development Officer, works in close collaboration with researchers and research teams across the university to strengthen connections with industry, government and not for profit organisations. What you need to succeed Completion of postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline area and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Proven track record in establishing and maintaining long-term industry relationships and leading research commercialisation activities across a related range of disciplines and activities. Demonstrated ability in building strong and beneficial partnerships, which enhance the University’s reputation. Demonstrated experience or exposure to legal contracts and agreements with demonstrated understanding of commercial and Intellectual Property issues. Demonstrated ability to identify funding opportunities and to build relationships with researchers and industry to meet research income targets. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including the interpretation of policy, compliance, legislative and regulatory documents with an ability to balance the requirements of these with organisational objectives. An exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), within the University of Southampton, in an important role as Senior Trials Manager (STM) within the Early Diagnosis and Translational Group. SCTU is a leading UK academic CTU located within the state-of-the-art Centre for Cancer Immunology building at Southampton General Hospital. Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) | University of Southampton SCTU is a UKCRC registered CTU and is core-funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) together with funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) via the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Research Support Service (RSS). SCTU has expertise in the design, conduct and publication of clinical trials and other well-designed studies from first-in-human phase I to practice changing phase III trials to large early diagnosis observational studies with rich translational data. Managing a growing portfolio (75% cancer, 25% non-cancer) that covers the complete spectrum of clinical practice, from primary care through to tertiary referral medicine, including pan-cancer experimental therapeutics, surgery, radiotherapy and early diagnosis. Undertaking multi-centre early and late phase clinical trials, we work nationally and internationally to create the evidence for patient benefit that will directly influence routine clinical practice in the NHS and overseas. As part of the CRUK and NIHR infrastructure we have close working relationships with our partners, including the Southampton Experimental Cancer Research Centre, NIHR BRC & RSS, University Hospital Southampton, the Centre for Cancer Immunology discovery community and CRUK Centres and Institutes across the UK, with an increasing number of international collaborations. The Senior Trials Manager will lead the relevant portfolio team to ensure effective delivery of the overall strategy and delivery priorities for SCTU. This will include resource management, oversight of financial management, new trial development, grant applications, and the ability to anticipate and consider potential issues or opportunities which could affect delivery and growth of the relevant portfolio. The appointed person must have proven experience of running clinical trials, with a focus on multistakeholder studies collecting patient samples for analysis, and including new trial development. This position is full time fixed term for 24 months. The research will focus on the development and use of machine learning and advanced molecular dynamics techniques for molecular simulations and to study Nucleic acids structures and their interactions. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related field, and is less than 5 after his receiving his their PhD. years , with extensive experience in the application of molecular dynamics simulations to molecular systems, ideally in both methods and applications. Experience in biomolecular simulations particularly nucleic acid simulations is desirable. An ideal candidate should have a solid background in physics and chemistry, particularly in the area of statistical mechanics with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and excellent record of research accomplishments. Experience with modern sampling techniques such as metadynamics, UFED, path sampling, milestoning methods; machine learning applications in chemistry and biophysics, good computer programming skills, and working knowledge of UNIX, phyton, and shell scripting is highly desired. Experience in molecular simulation softwares and analysis tools such as Gromacs, PLUMED and OpenMM will be very valuable.
