Founded in 2006, the University of Tabuk is based in Tabuk, the capital city of the Tabuk Region in northwestern Saudi Arabia.

The University of Tabuk amalgamated the old Tabuk Teachers’ College that had served as the region's primary source of education for elementary, intermediate and secondary school teachers.

Due to cultural requirements, men and women are segregated at the University of Tabuk. All male colleges, faculties and departments are located in University City, on the main campus. While the main female campuses are located at Maseef and Mahrajan, two boroughs of Tabuk.

The campuses are large and home to many facilities including a world-class teaching hospital.

The university includes the following colleges: medicine, engineering, applied medical sciences, science, computers and information technology, education and arts, business administration, design and arts and pharmacy.

Prior to study, all incoming students are required to complete a one year preparatory programme, which includes classes in Arabic, biology, communication skills, English, Islamic studies, mathematics and physics. Without successful completion of this course, students are unable to advance further in their studies.

To help students prepare for life after university, the University of Tabuk has an Entrepreneur Unit, which aims to support entrepreneurship and highlight its positive impact on society and the economy, increase job opportunities and convert the ideas of students into practical projects.

There’s also a successful Language Teaching Institute, which holds a set of specialised English language courses for employees of the university, its graduates and the local community in the city of Tabuk.

Description The Future-Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub (Future-GRID TecH) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit one motivated post-doctoral associate (or research scientist for experienced candidates with 5 years of post-PhD experience). The candidate will work under the supervision of Future-GRID TecH director Dr. Mohamed Moustafa to carry out cutting-edge research in the broad area of future structures and resilient infrastructure systems with interest in applications of new and emerging technologies. Particular areas of interest include: structural 3D printing (metals, concrete, and composites) computational mechanics and structural topology optimization vision-based structural health monitoring autonomous and drone-based infrastructure inspection and vibration monitoring Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering. Other related field such as Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, and Material Science are also welcomed. Required qualifications include: strong communication and presentation skills; a track record in writing and publishing peer-reviewed journal publications; and previous or relevant experience in mentoring or supervising undergraduate student research or junior graduate students. A formal training, education, or certification in a secondary area (beyond the main PhD focus) such as additive manufacturing, advanced/hybrid manufacturing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics, UAVs, etc. is a plus. Other preferred qualifications include: expertise in programming and coding (preferably using Python and C++) and GUI development; expertise in computational mechanics and finite element simulation and modeling; expertise in laboratory and multi-scale experimental testing at the material, component, and structural levels. The candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and undergraduate students, conduct high-quality “innovative and independent” experimental, analytical, and/or computational research, publish research work and results in scientific peer-reviewed journals and conferences, mentor undergraduate students, and participate in writing research grant proposals. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The researcher will be part of the team of the MCCS NATURE Project (https://www.nparks.gov.sg/Cuge/Programmes-Schemes/Research%20Programmes/MCCS%20Programme). The primary role involves developing and validating CFD models to study wave attenuation by mangroves, seagrass, and coral. Responsibilities include calibrating simulations with experimental data, analyzing shear coefficients and drag forces, and contributing to interdisciplinary research on coastal protection, with an emphasis on delivering accurate and impactful modeling insights. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: 1. Wave Stochastic Analysis and Hydrodynamics Conduct advanced stochastic analysis of wave environments to evaluate the performance of floating structures. Analyze hydrodynamic behavior of floating breakwaters under varied sea conditions. 2. CFD and Finite Element Modeling Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize the design and performance of floating breakwaters. Develop finite element models for stability assessment, structural integrity, and dynamic response of floating systems. 3. Connector Design Design and analyze mechanical connectors for the integration of multi-purpose floating breakwater systems, ensuring structural stability and durability. 4. Design and Integration Develop innovative designs for floating breakwaters that integrate wave energy converters (WECs), tidal energy systems, and solar energy platforms. Optimize design configurations to maximize energy harnessing and wave attenuation. 5. Experimental Testing Plan and conduct physical model tests in wave flumes or basins to validate computational models. Analyze experimental data to improve and validate the floating breakwater design. 6. Research Documentation and Dissemination: Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic and industry stakeholders. Contribute to project proposals and progress updates for funding agencies. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. 7. Project Management Support: Ensure timely execution of project milestones Coordinate with external collaborators and manage data-sharing protocols. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements PhD/Master’s in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. Description We are looking to hire a Junior Research Scientist or engineer to help us design and build novel systems and tools for decision-making support. You can learn more about our research vision and work on the lab website (huda-lab.github.io). HuDa lab examines data and decision-making from a tooling and systems-building perspective. A successful candidate should be able to design and implement systems and tools as well as demonstrate their efficacy through comparative performance evaluations or user studies. They should be able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the project's scope. As we publicly share all our code and data artifacts, good coding & reproducible experimentation practices are a must. We meet frequently to provide short status updates and have regular technical 1-1s to dive deep into research problems. Successful RAs or REs present their work, progress, and challenges concisely and clearly. They should be keen about publishing their work and findings and strive to meet deadlines. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required. The candidate should also demonstrate experience and excellence in systems or tool building, algorithmic thinking, and research. The ability to program in Python, C++, and other frameworks is a must. Comfort with declarative programming, SQL, and data management is highly desired. Strengthening Alumni and Donor Relations: A significant aspect of external engagement involves maintaining strong connections with the School’s alumni network. The Dean engages alumni through events, mentorship programmes, and fundraising initiatives, while also cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors to secure financial support for the School’s programmes, research, and student scholarships. Public Representation and Advocacy: As a key representative of the School, the Dean takes an active role in public forums, conferences, and media outlets. They advocate for the School’s mission, promote its achievements, and position it as a leader in its respective fields. The Dean also contributes to public discussions by representing the School in policy-making circles or industry forums. Encouraging Innovation and Industry Collaboration: The Dean leads initiatives that encourage collaboration between academia and industry, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. This includes supporting staff and students in developing projects that involve technology transfer, patenting, and creating opportunities for industry-sponsored research and development. Expanding International Collaboration: The Dean drives global engagement by establishing partnerships with international institutions, facilitating student and staff exchanges, and promoting cross-border research initiatives. This enhances the School’s global profile and encourages international knowledge exchange. Securing External Funding: The Dean plays a crucial role in securing funding from external sources, including government grants, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic contributions. They help staff and researchers identify funding opportunities and lead efforts to attract financial support for strategic initiatives aligned with the School’s goals. Promoting Policy Influence and Thought Leadership: The Dean positions the School as a thought leader by actively contributing to policy discussions, influencing public discourse, and advising on critical issues. This involves promoting research that informs policy, participating in advisory boards, or partnering with government agencies to address pressing societal concerns. Financial Management Empower the School’s senior team to manage devolved budgets and income and expenditure to promote financial sustainability in line with agreed KPIs. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Advanced Academic Credentials: A PhD or equivalent degree in a field of the humanities and social sciences. This demonstrates a profound understanding of the academic environment and the ability to make significant contributions to research and teaching. Proven Research and Teaching Excellence: A strong record of scholarly research, evidenced by publications in top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals and prestigious presses in humanities and social sciences-related disciplines. A track record of effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, preferably in an international context. Academic Leadership Experience: Significant experience in academic administration, such as serving as a School Dean, associate Dean and department chair, or in similar leadership roles where they were responsible for overseeing staff, managing budgets, and developing academic programmes. Experience with staff development, curriculum design, research leadership, internationalisation and strategic planning. Global Perspective and International Experience: Experiences of working in international academic institutions. Familiarity with global higher education and cross-cultural management, as well as an understanding of how to adapt humanities and social sciences education to diverse cultural and economic contexts. Strong Industry and Corporate Relations: Extensive engagement with the local community, government agencies, and industry associations. Experience in fostering relationships that lead to internships, work placements, and collaborations for students and staff. A proven ability to secure external funding, sponsorships, and build strong alumni networks. Academic Quality Assurance: Leadership experience in ensuring high standards in teaching, research, and student experience to maintain quality assurance.
