The University of South Africa was founded in 1873 and was originally known as the University of the Cape of Good Hope. However, in 1918 the university became the University of South Africa. The University of South Africa provides open, flexible and distance learning opportunities to people who cannot afford to attend residential universities. This has made it possible for students who live in remote parts of South Africa or other African countries to pursue their academic goals without needing to leave their community. The university has colleges in accounting sciences, agriculture and environmental sciences, economic and management sciences, education, human sciences, law, science, engineering and technology and business leadership.

As Singapore’s University for Industry, SIT works closely with industry partners in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver on a research project to develop an End-to-end misinformation and disinformation protection, awareness and mitigation pipeline. We will be recruiting a research engineers or fellows, as part of a wider project, to conduct research on: Signal processing combined with AI-based modification on speech signals. The need is for a real-time system, so efficient coding is important. Key Responsibilities: Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) Ian McLoughlin, Co-PI Tong Rong and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.  Undertake research within your domain, including keeping track of state-of-the-art work. Develop the code, evaluate and test. Write academic publications. Deliver solution-ready demonstration code. Interact well within the team and the customers. Be self-directed to fulfil the project requirements. Job Requirements: Competence in working with languages such as C along with AI applications as well as Python-based coding . Have a degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will definitely be advantageous. Knowledge of machine learning, pytorch, huggingface etc... Knowledge of speech, audio, time-series or signal processing is required. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilise industry-standard Linux-based computers for AI. Experience of authoring good quality academic publications. Manage undergraduate research assistants (if appropriate). Liaise with customers and collaborators in A*STAR and NTU, as well as collaborators in the UK and China. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop build proof-of-concept cyber security solutions and smart nation related systems. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Strong interest and passion in Cyber Security. Able to grasp new technology concepts quickly, and combine contrarian, out-of-the-box thinking when performing security assessments. OSCP, CISSP and GXPN holder will be advantageous. It offers seven degree programmes, including Accountancy, Aviation Management, Communication and Digital Media, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Integrated Studies in Business and Info-Comm, as well as two Food Business Management programmes offered in partnership with our overseas university partner, the Culinary Institute of America. This collection of business-related programmes provides a rich platform for the cross-fertilisation of ideas among faculty and students. The faculty comprises academically qualified staff with doctoral degrees, alongside seasoned industry practitioners who hold professional and postgraduate qualifications. This combination of academic rigour and practical experience supports a robust applied learning pedagogy. Through applied learning, students are exposed to real-life knowledge and practical examples, thereby enhancing the relevance and impact of their educational experience. The presence of both academics and industry practitioners also strengthens the Cluster’s industry relevance, as faculty members engage in applied research with direct applications and value to industry partners. The Cluster adopts a student and industry centric model of business education, with the ultimate goal of delivering industry-relevant training. Faculty Openings in the Accountancy Programme The Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Accountancy was one of the first three programmes conferred by SIT. The programme is accredited by Singapore’s national accountancy body, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), as well as several leading global accountancy professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Uniquely, the programme is also recognised under the University Affiliation Programme by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute. This three-year direct honours degree was developed through extensive consultations with industry leaders and accreditation bodies. Learners may choose to specialise in one of five accountancy domains: Applied Finance, Audit, Corporate Accounting, Management Accounting, and Taxation. We currently have positions available at all levels from Assistant Professor to Full Professor in the area of Financial Accounting (Sustainability Reporting and Carbon Accounting). Successful candidates will join the BCD Cluster as part of a faculty team comprising accomplished experts who are passionate about higher education and actively engaged in driving industry transformation through applied research. Faculty members may undertake funded, industry-relevant research and are expected to teach courses within the Accountancy Programme, with opportunities to contribute to other programmes within the BCD Cluster.
