The University of Science and Technology was originally founded in 1992 as the National College of Science and Technology. Two years later it was renamed the University of Science and Technology and became Yemen’s first private university.

The university’s main campus is now located in Aden, after relocating from Sana’a in 2020, and operates additional branches across the country, including Taiz, Hadhramout, and a women-only branch in the capital. Aden, a port city on the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, is a key commercial hub, historically known for its maritime trade and strategic location along the Gulf of Aden.

Academically, the university comprises of three faculties: Faculty of Health and Medicine Sciences, Faculty of Computing and Engineering, and the Faculty of Humanities and Administrative Sciences. Within these faculties are different departments offering a range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programmes.

The university is also home to the International Language Centre, University Book Centre, Talent Development Centre, Medical Training Centre, and the GIS Centre for Training and Development. 

Notable alumni of the university include Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman and Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

About the Job We are seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Counselling to contribute to teaching, research, clinical supervision, and academic leadership across our undergraduate and postgraduate counselling provision. The post holder will contribute to the academic, professional, research, and administrative activities of the Counselling Cluster within the Department of Social Work, Counselling and Social Care, and, where appropriate, across the wider School. The role includes module leadership, teaching across a range of counselling-related subjects, assessment and feedback, supervision of student research projects, and participation in admissions, recruitment, and academic administration. Teaching will be delivered primarily face-to-face at our Stratford Campus, with some online delivery as required. The role also involves providing high-quality clinical supervision and supporting students to integrate theory, research, and professional practice in line with BACP and other relevant professional standards. The post holder will be expected to engage in scholarly activity and contribute to the continued development and growth of the counselling portfolio, as well as to the wider research culture of the Department and School. About You We are looking for an enthusiastic, student-focused academic and practitioner who is passionate about counselling education, clinical practice, and widening participation in higher education. You will hold a BACP-accredited postgraduate qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy and/or Counselling and Coaching and be qualified to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Job Purpose:  As our horizons widen beyond that of our native planet our understanding of what this means for the human body is paramount in ensuring the longevity and success of a manned space mission. Long duration space flight stresses many physiological systems (e.g. cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, endocrine, etc) and mental health (mood, team dynamics, sleep, etc) and early warning of deterioration provides the best opportunity for intervention. We seek a systematic landscape review of which health parameters are (or should be) monitored in Space, how they are measured today (hardware, protocols, frequency, data quality, anything measured in tandem and how/if AI based methods are used) and how to replicate Earth based analogues of such systems that can be used as a test bed. Any information about the challenges of measuring in space should also be included within the survey of monitored parameters. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on a research project, funded by Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE), where you will be part of the research team to develop a scalable and comprehensive framework for formal verification of quantum programs. The framework consists of the following deliverables: Intermediate Language. We plan to develop an intermediate language to model quantum programs. The intermediate language would be complete to describe all the desired characteristics of quantum computing while at the same time simple enough to be understood by most programmers. Formal Verification Framework. We plan to develop a comprehensive framework to verify the correctness of quantum programs written in the proposed intermediate language. Mechanization. We plan to mechanize the formal framework using state-of-the-art theorem provers such as Coq or Isabelle/HOL. Proof Automation. We plan to develop formal methods for automatic reasoning that can be materialized into commercial tools. Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
