University of Savoie Mont Blanc is based in Chambery, France.
It can trace its roots back to the first college opened in Chambery in 1834 and went through a series of changes in the 1960s and 1970s before taking on its present name and form in 2015.
There are three campuses of roughly equal size: Annecy campus, Le Bourget-du-Lac and Jacob-Bellecombette.
The university offers Lifelong Learning were students can combine study and work, as well as full-time courses.
There is an emphasis on subjects regarded as relevant to the local economy and society including mechatronics, tourism, images, energy, physics and mountains.
The 18 research laboratories cover subjects including Alpine Ecology and the Alpine Research Centre for Trophic Networks and Limnic Ecosystems. T
