Four vibrant campuses 

UQ’s four campuses are located in South East Queensland, known for its safety, liveability and natural beauty. 

Our riverside St Lucia campus in Brisbane features world-class teaching and research facilities, heritage architecture, and onsite student accommodation.  

The Herston and Dutton Park campuses are located in the city’s biomedical precinct, close to major hospitals and research hubs.  

Our Gatton campus is located in an agricultural region near Brisbane, offering hands-on learning in agriscience and veterinary studies, and student accommodation options.

Research and innovation leadership 

More than 2,500 UQ scientists, social scientists and engineers work alongside government and industry on 3,500+ active research projects – from discovery to commercialisation.

UQ is also Australia’s number 1 university for commercialisation. Some of our proudest inventions include the Molecular Clamp vaccine technology recently acquired by Sanofi as part of a landmark acquisition, the world’s first cervical cancer vaccine (Gardasil), and Inflazome acquired by Roche in 2020. 

UQ is a key partner to the delivery organisation appointed by the Queensland Government to lead the integrated masterplan for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games main stadium, venue and village precinct.

UQ Library  Full-time, fixed-term position for up to 5 years    Based at our St Lucia location   About This Opportunity    The University of Queensland Library equips the UQ community with the information and skills to thrive in today’s complex information society. As a key strategic partner and connector across the University the library shares knowledge, information, inspiration, and joy for learning in a welcoming, accessible space.   The University Librarian provides strategic leadership and management of the University Library, supporting and enhancing the University’s mission and its strategic objectives in research, learning, discovery, and engagement within an increasingly digital environment. This role also provides the opportunity to oversee one of the largest collections in Australia with 7,160 cultural and heritage collections, over 200,000 journals and more than 2.5 million books. About This Opportunity  This is a truly crucial role with the potential to make meaningful, longstanding impact on both UQ and community. Reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Engagement (DVCIE), this leadership position will develop the strategic direction for Indigenous Education, monitor the whole-of-university approach to Indigenous Education, develop strategies to enhance the recruitment of Indigenous students, ensure support and success for our Indigenous students. As a senior leader within the Office of the DVC(IE), you’ll provide strategic leadership and direction for a team of both academic and professional staff. Outside the Indigenous Engagement division, you’ll forging strong connections with the University’s Senior Executive Team, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio, Heads of UQ Student Colleges, and the UQ Union. You’ll also be able to make your mark on UQ more broadly by recommendations for the development and implementation of key UQ strategies, across the UQ Strategic Plan, the Queensland Commitment, UQ’s Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, UQ’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research and Innovation Strategy, and more. We’re searching for an experienced academic leader with a PhD (or equivalent) and a national profile spanning across teaching, research, and engagement. You will bring leadership in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters, supported by a strong knowledge and planning of both organisation-wide campaigns and involvement with external stakeholders.
