Founded in 1958, University of Oulu is one of the largest universities in Finland and one of the northernmost universities in the world, with 8 faculties, 13,500 students, and nearly 3000 employees. We are ranked in the top three per cent of all the 17,000 universities in the world. University of Oulu offers 21 Master’s programmes (2 years) and two Bachelor´s and Master´s programmes (3 + 2 years) taught in English in engineering, ICT, architecture, business and economics, education, mining, health sciences, and natural sciences. Read more about the programmes

There are no tuition fees for EU/EEA students. Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students vary according to degree programmes. The University of Oulu provides scholarships for academically talented international students. The scholarship is aimed at students studying for a bachelor´s or master’s degree at the University of Oulu. The scholarships will be granted in the form of a tuition fee waiver covering 50%, 75% or 100% of the full tuition fee.

PhD student positions are offered within the University of Oulu Graduate School under four programmes: Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme, Human Sciences Doctoral Programme, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering Doctoral Programme and Technology and Natural Sciences Doctoral Programme.

In fact, Oulu was voted as the safest place to study out of 150 universities in an international student barometer—meaning that it is easy for international students to adjust to living and studying in Oulu, the fifth biggest city in Finland.
