The University of Oklahoma (OU) is a research university located in Norman in Oklahoma. With roots dating back to 1890, the university now offers a wealth of different subjects for students to enjoy.

Its main campus is located in Norman, about 20 miles from Oklahoma City. Norman has a wide variety of neighbourhoods, with different restaurants, art galleries, while it is also home to some of the oldest buildings in Oklahoma.

There is also a health sciences centre based in Oklahoma City itself, as well as a secondary Health Sciences campus in Tulsa. Meanwhile the University of Oklahoma–Tulsa Schusterman Centre, which offers a wide variety of specialist programmes, is based in Tulsa.

Internationally, the university owns a monastery in Italy, which since 2016 has been used as a permanent campus for study abroad students. The university expects that one in five OU students who study abroad will go through the Arezzo campus. There are also study centres in Mexico, Brazil and, in the near future, Turkey. 

Students are able to achieve bachelor, masters and doctorate degrees. There are a vast array of subjects on offer including Atmospheric Sciences, Education, Energy Science, Business, Engineering, Literature, Foreign Languages and Fine Arts.

UO also engaged in research activities in various different fields, although it is particularly well known for the work it has achieved in the field of meteorology.

Students can participate in a huge range of student organisations, as well as a student run radio and television station. Clubs include: Chess Club, Expressive Movement Initiative, Men’s Glee Club, Pre-Law Society, Society of Physics Students and Women in Business Association.

Athletic teams are nicknamed the Sooners, and compete as members of the NCAA's Division I and in the Big 12 Conference. Varsity sports teams include: football, athletics, wrestling, rowing, baseball, basketball, track and field, gymnastics and golf.

Notable alumni include James Garner, an actor, producer, and voice artist who starred in several television series spanning more than five decades, Adrian Peterson, a football running back for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League, and Fred Haise, an aeronautical engineer, former naval aviator, fighter pilot, test pilot, and NASA astronaut who is one of only 24 people to have flown to the Moon.

About the Job The Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) is an NHS-commissioned course training clinical psychologists to high standards and eligibility for the HCPC statutory register of practitioner psychologists.  The course is central to regional health and mental health workforce development and is delivered through high-profile partnerships between the University and London NHS Trusts. Finance Manager WorldPop

The WorldPop research group, within the School of Geography and Environmental Sciences at the University of Southampton is an award winning, multi-sectoral team of researchers, technicians and project specialists working on producing data on population distributions and characteristics at high spatial resolution. WorldPop | University of Southampton WorldPop has a diverse portfolio of projects, including large multi-million-pound collaborative projects with partner organisations, such as the Gates Foundation, the Gavi Vaccine Alliances, UN agencies, commercial data providers and other international development organisations. We are seeking to recruit a Finance Manager to provide effective financial management to WorldPop’s activities. Operationally the post holder will oversee the WorldPop Group finances, seeking to provide financial advice, guidance and management information of funded projects. The post holder will work closely with other areas of Finance supporting the process for the approval of costings and contracts and acting as the focal point of contact for all research and enterprise contracts and international project partners.  As a successful Business Partner the post holder will work with the WorldPop Senior Leadership Team developing a financial sustainability plan for WorldPop helping the group achieve its strategic financial objectives. The successful candidate will have experience in financially managing externally funded projects working as part of a programme team and should be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of accounting standards. Candidates with previous experience in higher education accounting, internationally funded project reporting, budget setting and reconciliation will be looked on favourably. A flexible working pattern at a minimum of 80% full time equivalent will be considered for this role. The successful candidate will be line managed by the Deputy Head of Faculty Finance and work under the supervision of the WorldPop Programme Manager and Director at the Highfield campus of the University of Southampton.
