The University of Warwick, based on the outskirts of the city of Coventry, England, first opened its doors in 1965.

Academically, the university is known also for its commitment to research. Warwick maintains around 30 academic departments, organised into four faculties: Arts, Medicine, Science and Social Science. In support of this, the university has an extensive library boasting more than 13 kilometers' worth of manuscripts. Smaller campuses are also maintained at satellite sites.

In terms of recreation, Warwick has a number of different student societies providing for a wide range of interests. In addition, the university’s student union is one of the largest in the UK. Many different events are held on campus, such as music concerts as well as visits from guest speakers.

Some of the most famous alumni of Warwick include Conservative politician David Davis, and former Nigerian president Yakubu Gowon.

In addition to Faculty-based undergraduate teacher education, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Master of Education, Doctor of Education and PhD programmes, the Department offers several Master of Arts / Science programmes as well as research supervision across a range of subject areas. The Faculty of Education of CUHK is an international centre for professional training and research in education. The Department invites applications for full-time appointment as Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer in Science Education. For Senior Lecturer, applicants should have (i) a relevant doctoral degree; and (ii) at least 8 years of post-doctoral relevant experience. Evidence of research and scholarly activities is also generally expected. For Lecturer, applicants should have (i) a Master’s degree (preferably a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline); and (ii) at least 4 years of post-Master relevant experience. Applicants who possess a doctoral degree with less experience will also be considered. Applicants should also have (a) a strong track record in teaching; (b) extensive professional experience, leadership services to schools and the education community; (c) good knowledge of the education systems of Hong Kong and its neighbouring communities; and (d) strong commitment to excellence in teaching. A good track record of pedagogical research, an initial record of refereed publications, and the ability to contribute to the teaching and development of courses related to educational technology and/or STEAM education are added advantages. The appointee will be responsible for curriculum development and teaching in teacher education and higher degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Education. Supervision of teaching practice is also required. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement. The Water-Food Futures project aims to identify solutions that reduce water overuse and pollution while ensuring food security and the economic viability of food production. We study how tailored transition from rainfed to nature- and technology-based water management systems can be used to safeguard profitable, sustainable, resilient, and regenerative primary production in the pressure of global changes and challenges. Bioeconomic models are used to study cost-effective adaptation measures under climate change and market-related risks with a particular focus on irrigation, climate-related external factors, input prices, and externalities to waterbodies. Some of the modelled adaptation measures will be tested in field experiments. We will test rainfed and irrigated system combined with diversified crops and cropping system. Soil water and temperature will be monitored, above ground and below ground of crops will be measured. Crop yield and its quality will be analysed. These results will help to develop approaches to provide better understanding of means to tackle water-related challenges caused by climate change, improve yield stability, and decrease the environmental impact of food production. The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher and Doctoral Researcher. POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER (Water-Food Futures) The postdoctoral researcher will be appointed for a fixed-term of 17 months (start date: 1.4.2026 or as negotiated) to work in a national project entitled: “The Navigating the Route to Sustainable Water-Food Futures” The postdoctoral researcher will study the soil-plant interaction under different cropping systems and act in close collaboration with the bioeconomic modelling group. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled researcher with a PhD degree and experience in crop physiology or related field. A successful candidate should be able to Design, conduct, and publish research within the scope of the project Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate student supervision and teaching within the departments Contribute to preparing grant applications Engage with the scientific community, research partners and the wider public through scientific publications and conference presentations The candidate is expected to have Education, experience and technical skills A relevant PhD degree with previous experience with crop physiological methods, plant-soil water dynamics, and chemical analyses, for example total micro- and macro-elements. The doctoral degree must be granted before the beginning of employment. Fluency in English and excellent writing skills. Working Language is English Experience with an analytical tool (R is the preferred language but equivalent languages are also fine).
