The University of Milan, founded in 1924, is a public teaching and research university with around 64,000 students.

The university’s scientific faculties are housed in Città Studi (the City of Studies), the university quarter constructed from 1915 onwards, while humanities faculties are based in buildings in the historic city centre.

The university’s artistic and cultural heritage includes botanical gardens and the former Brera Observatory building commissioned by the Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa in the 18th Century.

Among the other historic buildings housing the university are the 15th-century Ca' Granda in the heart of the city centre, and the 18th-century Palazzo Greppi, designed by the architect who built the city’s Scala Theatre, Giuseppe Piermarini.

The university’s collection of books is housed in 47 libraries, while rare and valuable books are collected at the APICE Centre.

The cultural life of the university and city are augmented by the institution’s choir and orchestra, which are internationally recognised.

The institution was established by the merger of the Accademia Scientifico-Letteraria (Scientific-Literary Academy), founded in 1861, and the Istituti Clinici di Perfezionamento (Clinical Specialisation Institutes), founded in 1906.

By 1928, the University of Milan already had the fourth-highest number of students of any university in Italy.

Expansion in the 1960s saw two new faculties created, while student numbers increased to 90,000 by the early 1990s.

In 1998, the institution split in two and Milan’s second public institution, the University of Milan-Bicocca, was founded.

The University of Milan now has eight faculties and two schools, offering 138 study programmes. There are also 31 doctoral schools.

The institution was one of the founder members of the League of European Research Universities and remains its only Italian member.

Characterize the physicochemical properties of the developed formulations and their potential impact on pathogenicity, compatibility, and stability of the active ingredients. Design and implement laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments to evaluate the activity of the developed biopesticides. Assist with rearing and maintenance of insects and plants; Supervision of graduate and postgraduate research projects; Co and lead-authorship of project reports, patents, presentations and published papers; Selection criteria: The position is open for candidates holding a PhD relating to crop protection, complete in the past five years. Experience in formulation technology and chemical characterization techniques, as well as a strong publication record are considered as advantages. Description The Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYUAD is looking to appoint new independent fellows working in one (or more) of the following center's research fields Extrasolar Planets Galactic Astrophysics (including compact objects) Extragalactic Astrophysics and Cosmology Astroparticle Physics (Dark Matter searches, gamma-ray spectroscopy, gravitational waves) The center currently consists of eight faculty members and more than 25 researchers and PhD students. The Center possesses the unique possibility to investigate fundamental questions in astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and planetary physics from several points of view, with the expertise of its members ranging from collecting and analyzing state-of-the-art data on the nature of the visible and invisible matter in the Universe, to detailed theoretical and numerical studies from planets to galaxies, and linking them together cohesively. We expect successful applicants to work towards improving the collaborations and connections among the different areas. We invite applicants to visit our website to learn more about current research projects at CASS. The center fellows will have access to a 70,000-core Infiniband Cluster (Jubail) dedicated to the science division, several GPU-based clusters at NYUAD, and other supercomputer facilities through the CASS network. NYUAD also has guaranteed observing time on the Green Bank Telescope, the Very Long Baseline Array, and Las Cumbres Observatory, and is a participant in SDSS-V. Applicants should have a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or a closely related field. CASS fellows will have dedicated funds for traveling, computing, publications, etc. The preferred starting date is Fall of 2026.
