The appointees will work with Prof. Zhendong Zhang to pursue research in all-optical trapping and manipulation of ultracold ions and atoms enabled by synthetic micro-optical modes inside a multimode cavity. Prof. Zhang’s research interests cover topics in AMO physics, including quantum simulation of strongly correlated physics, ultracold chemistry and precision measurements. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree preferably in mechanical engineering, ophthalmology and visual sciences, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation or a related discipline, with experience in data science, coding, image analysis, and statistical analysis. Previous research work experience in ophthalmology/visual science-related translational research, particularly in relation to AI applications will be desirable. They should also have a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation, an excellent command of written and spoken English, good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team. The appointee will be involved in research projects related to the development of novel algorithms and AI tools for detection of eye diseases.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline. They should have strong background and research experience in at least one of the following areas: (1) Chemical biology; (2) Anticancer drug research; (3) Cancer biology; (4) Mass spectrometry; (5) Proteomics. They should be self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently as well as in a team. The appointee will work on interdisciplinary projects related to the development of novel therapeutic agents targeting cancer-related proteins for therapy. In particular, the appointee will utilize chemoproteomics to discover new druggable hotspots in liver cancer, which can facilitate the development of novel anticancer therapeutics. The appointee will have a good opportunity to learn and perform state-of-the-art research for drug target identification and drug development.
