Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in the disciplines of Virology and Biological Sciences and have a strong interest in working closely with virologists and clinicians. They are expected to be highly motivated and come up with independent lines of research enquiry. Previous experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage: a) developing and working with infectious clones, tissue culture or primary cell culture models, b) ability to work with infectious small animals, c) omic-science, or d) microbial bioinformatics as applied to clinical research. The appointee will conduct research projects related to emerging agents of hepatitis (such as rat hepatitis E virus) under the supervision of Dr. Siddharth Sridhar in a leading clinical-translational emerging viral hepatitis research laboratory. Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, or be eligible to apply to the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine for the Certification of Specialist Registration. They should have experience as a teacher or trainer in undergraduate, postgraduate or professional education, with evidence of local to regional recognition of clinical excellence. Experience in undergraduate curriculum reform and development, as well as proven capacity and potential in conducting research in their respective field(s) would be advantageous. Ability to speak Cantonese will also be an advantage, although teaching and professional activities are conducted in English. The appointee will undertake teaching responsibilities, and organize and develop undergraduate programmes. He/She is expected to provide clinical service and patient care at the University’s teaching hospitals, and contribute to services/administration at the Departmental, Faculty and University levels. We seek early-career scholars whose design research engages with emerging topics and methods within and adjacent to the field of landscape architecture, with particular focus in areas of applied ecology, such as conservation biology and restoration ecology, or in areas of advanced fabrication, landscape engineering, and critical approaches to data and representation. Appointments will be made on a two-year basis with the possibility of renewal or advancement toward tenure-track positions in the Division as and when available. Qualifications: Applicants should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture or closely allied field. They shoud demonstrate an emerging record of innovative design research through their scholarship and/or creative practice as evidenced by peer review and other forms of recognition. Preference will be given to those who have experience in teaching and practicing design in a multidisciplinary context. Responsibilities: Research Professoriate staff are expected to pursue an independent research and design agenda in line with their area of specialization. Apppointees will be expected to teach, with duties that may include core and elective seminars and co-teaching duties in design studio within our Bachelor and Masters programs in landscape architecture. Broadly, the successful candidate will help build and sustain our innovation in design research and other scholarly initiatives within the Division. About the Division: The Division of Landscape Architecture offers an internationally recognized, rigorous, and dynamic research and teaching environment within the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong.
