Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in the disciplines of Virology and Biological Sciences and have a strong interest in working closely with virologists and clinicians. They are expected to be highly motivated and come up with independent lines of research enquiry. Previous experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage: a) developing and working with infectious clones, tissue culture or primary cell culture models, b) ability to work with infectious small animals, c) omic-science, or d) microbial bioinformatics as applied to clinical research. Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, or be eligible to apply to the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine for the Certification of Specialist Registration. They should have experience as a teacher or trainer in undergraduate, postgraduate or professional education, with evidence of local to regional recognition of clinical excellence. Experience in undergraduate curriculum reform and development, as well as proven capacity and potential in conducting research in their respective field(s) would be advantageous. Ability to speak Cantonese will also be an advantage, although teaching and professional activities are conducted in English. The appointee will undertake teaching responsibilities, and organize and develop undergraduate programmes.
