The University of Cincinnati (UC) is one of the US’ top 20 public research institutions.

It has been classified as a Research University by the Carnegie Commission, and is counted as one of America’s top 30 public research universities by the National Science Foundations.

As its name suggests, it is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is the region’s largest employer.

Since its formation in 1819, the university has been the birthplace of numerous ground-breaking discoveries, such as the first cooperative education programme in the world. Established in 1906, this programme provides professional experience along with classroom learning.

Notable inventions and discoveries accredited to UC researchers include the world's first electronic organ, the antihistamine, the heart-lung machine and the oral polio vaccine.

Its alumni includes the astronaut Neil Armstrong, US Vice President Charles G. Dawes, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist, Walt Handelsman.

Today, UC has an enrolment of over 44,000 students and offers over 300 programmes of study. It also provides International Programs, which gives students the opportunity to study abroad.

The University has been described by US News as one of 15 “up and coming” universities, and referred to as one of the world’s most beautiful campuses by Forbes Magazine. It has also been labelled a “green school” by Princeton Review.

Home to a host of impressive facilities, such as a 200,000 square-foot recreation centre, UC is also known for its commitment to sport, and its athletics teams are known as the ‘Bearcats’ – a nickname coined during a football game in 1914.

The university has won over 40 conference championships in the Mid-American Conference, Missouri Valley Conference, Metro Conference, Conference USA, and the Big East Conference, and is now a member of the American Athletic Conference.

Does this sound like you? Then join our accomplished team! Your personal sphere of influence: The Institute for Religious Education is a sub-unit of the Faculty of Protestant Theology. The vacant position as university assistant (praedoc) serves to strengthen our teaching and research portfolio. We are looking for Protestant theologians with a special interest in working on research questions in religious education. We are a research-active institute, emphasise an inspiring working atmosphere and offer a flexible working environment. The duration of the contract is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to a total of 4 years if the employer does not submit a declaration of non-renewal within the first 12 months. Your future tasks: You will play an active role in the research, teaching and administration of the Institute, i.e: You will be involved in research projects and publications in Religious Education. You will work on and complete your dissertation in Religious Education. We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 6-12 months. You will participate in doctoral seminars at the Institute. You will teach independent courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement. The Library are now looking for a Library Engagement Team Leader to join our Library Engagement team, providing high-quality frontline support for students and staff across our library services. You will be an enthusiastic, friendly and adaptable person and play a key role in managing the day-to-day work of the team, ensuring that excellent customer service standards are consistently delivered. You will lead and support colleagues delivering face-to-face and digital enquiry services, helping to maintain an efficient, responsive and user-focused service. You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. Candidates without formal qualifications but with significant, relevant experience will also be considered. You will have experience working in a customer-focused, service delivery environment, ideally within a library, IT or educational setting, along with experience of delivering enquiry services in a digital environment. You should have excellent communication, customer care and team working skills, alongside the ability to manage, motivate and develop staff. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and digital systems is essential, as is the ability to gather and analyse information to support service improvements. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team, able to problem-solve effectively and maintain high service standards under pressure. Experience of supervising staff, contributing to service development or projects, and an interest in innovation and continuous improvement will be advantageous. A flexible approach and willingness to acquire new skills are essential to support service delivery in a changing environment.
