Description The Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS), New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on interdisciplinary research in quantum systems. The successful applicant will Performing interdisciplinary research in quantum systems within the projects of the center and in alignment with its goals, in collaboration and coordination with the PI and/or the Co-PIs, potentially leading to quality publications. Participation in the activities of the center, including workshops, training sessions, seminars, conferences, hackathons, meetings, and interaction with visitors. Mentoring of undergraduate research students in coordination with the PI and Co-PIs. Promoting the research done at the center by giving talks at national and international seminars/ meetings/ workshops/ conferences. Helping in teaching tutorials/recitations as the need arises. Applicants must have a Bachelors in one of the following: Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Communication Engineering, Mathematics, Physics. Founded in 2024, ACAMI is a collaborative centre spanning research, clinical trials, and workforce development at the intersection of AI and healthcare. It supports medical research institutes and industry partners, strengthening Victoria’s globally recognised life sciences ecosystem and ensuring it keeps pace with emerging AI advancements. Reporting to the Director and Chief Scientist of ACAMI, the Associate Professor (Research) will collaborate closely with the Director and Chief Scientist, Director of Development, the ACAMI team, and both internal and external stakeholders to advance ACAMI’s mission. This includes positioning the centre as a commercially sustainable entity that leverages AI, data and innovation to drive transformation and growth across AI-enabled medical and biomedical ecosystems in Victoria. The appointee will be expected to establish, attract and lead new research programs and teams within ACAMI, building capability by bringing together high performing researchers, postdoctoral fellows, academic collaborators, clinical partners and industry stakeholders around key AI-driven medical innovation themes. Skills and knowledge: Completion of a PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline area, such as AI/ML for mRNA, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computational Medicine, or a related field. A substantial and internationally recognised record of excellence in AI-enabled biomedical, biological, clinical, health or medical innovation, demonstrated by applying AI/ML, computational, data-intensive or related approaches to significant medical and health challenges.
