Position Summary We are seeking an accomplished academic leader for the role of Associate Professor & Associate Dean – Computer Science & Game Design. This dual-role position combines academic leadership, teaching excellence, and strategic departmental responsibility. The incumbent will lead academic delivery, curriculum innovation, and research development across Computer Science and Game Design disciplines, while supporting the Associate Dean in shaping academic strategy and ensuring alignment with global standards of the University of Liverpool. The role demands a strong commitment to research-informed teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and development of future-ready graduates equipped with advanced technical and creative capabilities. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership & Department Development Provide academic leadership in Computer Science and Game Design programs. Support strategic direction and development of the department in alignment with institutional goals. Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Contribute to staff mentoring, performance development, and academic mentoring. Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Design Lead and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Design, review, and enhance curricula aligned with global academic standards. Promote innovative teaching methodologies, including digital learning and experiential education. Ensure strong alignment with outcome-based education frameworks. Research & Scholarly Activity Maintain an active research profile with high-quality publications. Contribute to interdisciplinary research in Computer Science, AI, Game Development, and related fields. Promote research-informed teaching across all programmes. Support research collaborations, grants, and industry engagement. Game Design & Industry Engagement Strengthen industry-academic linkages in Game Design and Interactive Media. Support experiential learning through studios, labs, and project-based learning. Encourage innovation in game development, simulation, AR/VR, and interactive systems. Quality Assurance & Institutional Contribution Participate in academic quality assurance, accreditation, and benchmarking processes. Contribute to institutional academic committees and strategic initiatives. Ensure compliance with University academic policies and standards. Academic Mentorship & Student Success Support student engagement, mentoring, and academic progression. Promote a student-first learning environment focused on success and employability. Foster inclusive, supportive, and high-performance academic culture. Essential Qualifications PhD in Computer Science, Game Design, Interactive Media, or a closely related discipline from a recognised or globally top-ranked university. Academic experience at Associate Professor level or equivalent or must have leadership level. Strong teaching record in higher education. Eligibility or commitment to achieve HEA Fellowship (or equivalent teaching qualification). Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and academic leadership. Skills & Experience Proven record of excellence in teaching and research in Computer Science / Game Design. Strong publication record in reputed journals/conferences. Experience in academic leadership and departmental development. Ability to integrate industry trends into curriculum design. Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research. Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving academic environment.
