Founded in 2024, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Sustainability Research is set to become a hub for transformative research at the University of Liverpool, fostering collaboration among experts from diverse disciplines. Its mission is ambitious yet vital: to tackle the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, starting with those focused on climate. By leveraging Liverpool’s pioneering work on digital solutions and innovation, the centre will address some of the most pressing global challenges with impactful, interdisciplinary approaches.

During an episode of the THE Connect podcast, host Ashton Wenborn spoke with Katie Atkinson, associate pro vice-chancellor of the University of Liverpool and director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Sustainability Research, about the centre’s approach, its goals and how it fits into the university’s wider strategy.
