Founded in 1974 as the Supreme Training College of Sanandaj, the University of Kurdistan is a teacher-training institution. It remains in the capital of Eastern Kurdistan, a city set close to mountains which boasts 141 mosques and a formidable tradition of mysticism. Expansion into other disciplines brought elevation to university status under its current name in 1991, along with responsibility for every other higher education institution in the province, with a combined roll nearly three decades later of around 60,000 students. Around a sixth of those study at at the campus on the edge of Sanandaj, where the aim is to provide "an environment which nurtures the training of human resources in a creative, responsible, motivated, conscious and disciplined way based on Islamic and moral values". It does this through faculties of agriculture, art and architecture, engineering, humanities and social sciences, literature and foreign languages, natural resources and science, with a further science and engineering base in Bijar, 90 miles from Sanandaj. The Institute of Kurdish Studies is a significant centre for the study of the language and associated culture, setting up a specialised library in 2000, devoting 10 years of research to the creation of a pioneering encyclopedia and initiating a collection of folklore in 2018. In 2015 the university’s department of Kurdish language and literature offered Iran’s first post-school course in the language and from 2020 will offer a master's. The university is one of six members of the EU-funded internationalisation of higher education in Iran (IHEI) project, and in 2018 the university received an award for the best international science activities by any Iranian university.

While primarily a teaching institution, UMHB recognizes and rewards research, publication, and other forms of scholarly attainment. Strong communication skills with a commitment to scholarly research and enhancing the quality of education are required.Specific Responsibilities: This position includes teaching graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Counseling program; advising and mentoring counseling students; providing clinical supervision to practicum and internship students; and participating in departmental and university committees.This position will teach three (3) graduate courses during each fall and spring semesters, with the option of teaching courses during the summer for additional renumeration for each course taught. Qualifications: Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University's mission and who will be an active participant in their local church. A doctoral degree in Counseling from a CACREP accredited program in Counseling is required. A current and valid Texas LPC license is required. Current clinical licensure in another state with eligibility to achieve Texas LPC licensure within one (1) year of hire may be substituted. Teaching experience is required. Graduate-level teaching experience is preferred. Teaching marriage and family counseling classes, and/or working with children in play therapy classes is preferred.The attainment of LPC-S supervisor status in the state of Texas within 60 months of hire date will be a requirement. The role Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position to work part-time on on a project funded by The Children and Young People’s Cancer Association (CCLG): Mapping current funding in young people’s cancer research against the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Priority Setting Partnership priorities. The successful post holder will be based in the School of Health Sciences, working with Susie Aldiss and Professor Faith Gibson. The James Lind Alliance Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) research priorities were published in 2018 (final report available from: https://www.jla.nihr.ac.uk/priority-setting-partnerships/teenage-and-young-adult-cancer. The aim of this PSP was to identify the research questions that need to be answered about teenage and young adult cancer, according to young people, survivors, families/carers and professionals. Our focus in this current project is on the Top 30 priorities from this PSP (https://www.jla.nihr.ac.uk/priority-setting-partnerships/teenage-and-young-adult-cancer#tab-the-top-10-priorities).  In this project, we will undertake an information gathering exercise to establish which of the 30 priorities are currently priorities for funding and/or being funded. This will involve liaising with funders of cancer research in the UK to collect their funding strategies and information on projects funded in the past five years. This will help funders to see where the gaps in funding are, avoid duplication and enable possible collaborations to ensure that all the priorities receive attention as these are the areas of research that young people, survivors, families/carers and professionals have identified as important. About you We are looking for a researcher with excellent project management and research skills, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills, who can work independently, but also work well within a team environment. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate and undertake activities including: liaising with research funders, leading on data collection and data management, analysis of data involving matching funding strategies and funded studies to the Top 30 priorities, dissemination of findings including report writing, preparing a journal publication and feedback to funders.
