The University of Kitakyushu’s predecessor, Kokura Foreign Studies College, was founded in 1946. It was only renamed the University of Kitakyushu in 2000. It is a public university located in Kitakyushu, Japan. The university is comprised of two campuses, Kitagata and Hibikino. Kitagata is the university’s oldest campus and has a number of facilities including a 14-story main tower, a library, and a Centre for International Education and Exchange. The Hibikino campus is situated in the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park, alongside various other scientific institutes. This campus is involved in joint research programmes and academic exchanges with nearby universities.The Park has communal state-of-the-art facilities, available for students to use. The university aims to contribute to the environmental and technological developments of the 21st century using the Park’s resources. Students at the university have the choice of five undergraduate faculties to specialise in: economics and business administration; foreign studies; humanities; law (all of which are taught at the Kitagata campus) and environmental engineering (which is based at the Hibikino campus). The university’s graduate school has courses available in social system studies and environmental engineering. There is an extensive overseas study programme available at the university, with partnerships in the US, UK, Australia, China and South Korea. The study abroad programme was initiated in 2008. Working closely with the local community, the university is committed to using its education and research to solve regional problems. This was recognised in the 2008 University Regional Contribution Ranking as the university placed first out of 730 other Japanese universities.

The University seeks applications for a Business Development Manager (BDM) within the new Southampton Space Institute. The vision of the Southampton Space Institute is to unify the many space activities across the University, further its growing reputation in space, develop industrial partnerships both local to the South of England, national and international, and increase funding success. This ambition is supported by the University’s world class facilities enabling excellent space science, space technology development, and terrestrial applications of space data. A dedicated space strategy has been developed to support the vision.  The BDM role will be central in turning the vision into practice. The University is therefore seeking an experienced space-sector business development professional who can demonstrate that they can: Understand the national space and global policy context and the needs of customers and partners Support the Institute Director in representing the University within space fora(conferences, committees etc.) and influence relevant decision makers using their well-developed sector network. For more information, please visit https://biomedicum.com The NovoNordisk funded project focuses on the observation that people live longer than ever, but health declines significantly during the later years. Current treatments target age-related conditions and diseases individually, despite their shared root in cellular aging. This leads to inefficient treatments and high healthcare costs. We will study how rejuvenating the blood system affects systemic metabolic functions in the body during aging. Using mouse models, flow cytometry, RNA/DNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, immunofluorescence microscopy, HSC transplantation and assays of multiple organs, we aim to metabolically restore cellular functions to extend healthspan. Lengefeld lab: Position description: We are looking for a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher and PhD student to join Lengefeld at Viiki campus to perform a project focused on metabolic aging using hematopoietic stem cells.  Qualifications for postdoc position: PhD in hematology, hematopoietic stem cell biology, aging biology or a related field (degree requirement must be met by the beginning of the employment). The successful postdoc candidate will lead projects investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying metabolic dysfunction during aging using cutting-edge approaches in immunology, metabolomics, transcriptomics, and tissue histology. The project will combine molecular biology, metabolomics, and mouse/cell culture models to understand the mechanisms underlying age-associated metabolic dysfunction. Qualifications for postdoc position: PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Metabolism, or related field. Expertise in FACS-based immunophenotyping and general immunology techniques. Experience in metabolomics analysis (LC-MS/MS or GC-MS). Proficiency in transcriptomics analysis (RNA-seq) and associated bioinformatics workflows. Histological analysis of tissues, including sample preparation, staining (H&E, immunohistochemistry, or immunofluorescence), and microscopy. Skilled in R programming for statistical analysis and data visualization is plus Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferred Skills: Experience with mouse models and histology. Familiarity with multi-omics data integration. Description We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in sociology, social psychology, computational social science, computer science, information science, data science, or a closely related field. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and is available for up to three years. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Mario D. Molina, Minsu Park, and Blaine Robbins. The collaborative research will be large-scale analyses of digital traces (e.g., Yelp, Airbnb, Stack Exchange) and virtual lab experiments to study how ingroup favoritism and group boundaries coevolve in multiplex communities; how attribute- and opinion-based cues shape insider/outsider categorization, intergroup relations, and social cohesion; and how to design interventions that promote inclusivity, fairness, and productive discourse online. We seek a candidate with expertise in the following four areas: (1) working with large-scale digital trace data; (2) building and running natural language processing and machine learning workflows; (3) experimental design and causal inference (including virtual lab experiments); and/or (4) network or computational modeling. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in applying these tools to questions of group formation, intergroup relations, and the distribution of resources on online platforms. This is an excellent position for a computational social scientist or a computer/data scientist eager to transition into the social sciences. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. You would join a group of over 20 post-doctoral fellows and 70 faculty in the Division of Social Science.
