University Haxhi Zeka

The University Haxhi Zeka has a history that dates back to 1960 when the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Business in Peja transformed into the Economic Commercial High School. Between 2000 and 2006 the school was reformed according to the Bologna Declaration model. It was renamed the Business School and studies were conducted in three departments: Business Administration, Applied Business Informatics, and Management in Tourism and Hospitality. 
In 2011, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo transformed the school into University Haxhi Zeka. 
The university offers a diverse range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes across five faculties: business, law, management in tourism, hospitality and environment, agribusiness and arts. 
The university is also home to the Institute of Science and Arts, the Centre for Excellence, the Business Support Centre, and the Centre for Peace and Human Rights. 
Located in the vibrant city of Peja, the university has a picturesque campus in western Kosovo.

Introduction

As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) collaborates actively with industry in our research work. We seek a motivated candidate who is keen on rigorous research, the practical applications of code exfiltration and reverse engineering as well as security penetration testing.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of a research team to investigate and determine potentially critical Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) drone system vulnerabilities impacting confidentiality, integrity and availability.

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PIs and research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Undertake or help guide work and demonstrations in the following tasks:
	
		Code exfiltration and binary reverse engineering.
		Study, understand and analyse mobile platform applications.
		Android app reverse engineering (Drone apps)
		Static and Dynamic analysis(experience in tools like Frida, Burp, Wireshark)
		Develop AI-assisted agents for automated firmware analysis and exploration
		Build a controlled firmware-replica environment for evaluating protocol security
		Design, develop and test control augmentation techniques.
		Adaptation of developed techniques for more generic use.
	
	
	Perform project documentation and crafting of research papers.
	Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
	Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.


 Job Requirements


	A good degree in Computer Science / Engineering or higher.
	Proficiency with code exfiltration and reverse engineering.
	Proficiency with penetration testing techniques and tools.
	Proficiency with software scripting and development work on desktop and / or mobile platforms.

Job Purpose: 

The Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in sustainability focusing on, but not limited to, the Built Environment sector, working with internal teams and industry partners to develop practical solutions.

The role focuses on translating scientific concepts into scalable solutions that address challenges in mitigating the impact of climate change and meeting environmental sustainability target through resource efficiency, energy management, renewable energy, waste management, and other sustainable solutions for various industries.

Research engineers will collaborate closely with faculty, professional officers and industry partners to execute commercially viable solutions that address real-world challenges. In the process, research engineers gain valuable applied research capabilities aligned with evolving industry needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Applied Research & Development


	Perform sustainability assessment and analysis for organizational green transition.
	Develop of sustainability solutions and training roadmap development for organizational green transition, focusing on but not limited to the Built Environment sector.
	Develop and execute of sustainability projects by conducting experiments, data collection, and analysis for Proof of Concept (POC) and implementation for organisations in, but not limited to, the built environment sector at neighbourhood-scale and building-scale, such as microclimate study, building energy and resource-use efficiency, sustainability strategies and technologies.


Industry Collaboration


	Support collaborations with industry partners to understand problem statements and contribute to solution development
	Assist in project scoping by gathering technical inputs and identifying relevant capabilities within the ecosystem (IHLs, research centres, industry partners)
	Participate in industry meetings, discussions, and project engagements


Project Execution & Support


	Assist in planning and executing projects to ensure timely delivery of outcomes
	Generate technical reports, presentations, and documentation on the development of sustainability solutions and applications
	Contribute to grant proposals and project submissions where required


Track project progress and maintain proper documentation of activities

Job Requirements:


	Bachelor’s degree with 5+ year experience OR Master’s degree with 2+ year experience in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services.
	Strong knowledge and experience in building passive strategies, ACMV systems and control.
	Hands on experience on experimental studies, including urban microclimate and thermal comfort study, is highly advantageous.
	Possess understanding of sustainability concepts (e.g., LCA, carbon foot printing, resource efficiency).
	Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
	Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our research team within the AgroBioSciences Program at UM6P. The successful candidate will contribute to an innovative research project focused on the development of fully biodegradable nutrient carriers and soil amendments derived from agricultural waste. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of materials science, polymer chemistry, and sustainable agriculture, addressing critical challenges in nutrient use efficiency, water scarcity, and soil health.

The candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing research objectives aimed at designing and evaluating highly porous biosolid carriers capable of delivering both immediate and slow-release fertilization while substantially improving soil water retention. The work will involve the synthesis, characterization, and agronomic evaluation of biopolymer-based carriers, with a focus on their application in drought-prone agricultural systems.

Key Responsibilities

Research Activities


	Extract and functionalize biopolymers from agricultural and marine biomass and develop carrier formulations using crosslinking techniques such as ionotropic gelation and freeze-drying, including composite carriers incorporating biochar for controlled nutrient release.
	Perform comprehensive physicochemical characterization using FTIR, SEM/TEM/AFM, BET surface area and porosity analysis, XRD, TGA/DSC, and zeta potential measurements.
	Develop encapsulation strategies for NPK nutrients, quantify loading capacity and release kinetics in water and soil using UV-Vis and ICP-OES, model release profiles, and investigate the effects of thermochemical treatment on release behavior.
	Design and conduct greenhouse experiments under different moisture regimes, assess plant growth parameters, physiological stress markers (proline, MDA, antioxidant enzymes), and nutrient uptake, while monitoring soil hydro-physical properties and biodegradability.
	Perform robust statistical analyses, prepare high-quality manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, present findings at conferences, and contribute to project reports and deliverables.
	Work closely with intersciplinary teams (agronomists, soil scientists, polymer chemists), supervise PhD and Master's students, and contribute to proposal writing and technology transfer activities.


Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications


	Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong focus on porous materials (biochars, biopolymer-based carriers) for agricultural or environmental applications.
	Proven experience in biopolymer extraction and functionalization 
	Strong expertise in material characterization techniques (FTIR, SEM/TEM, BET, TGA, XRD…..).
	Experience in nutrient loading and controlled release studies.
	Demonstrated ability to design and conduct greenhouse experiments and evaluate plant growth and soil properties.


Desired Skills and Experience


	Knowledge of porous carrier synthesis.
	Familiarity with pyrolysis and biochar production from biobased materials.
	Experience with statistical analysis software (R, SPSS, or equivalent).
	Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields.
	Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and autonomy.
	Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
	Prior experience in project management, grant writing, or supervision is desirable but not required.
