The University of Fallujah was established in 2014 and has grown rapidly in the years since it first started. It has been accredited and officially recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific research in Iraq.  The current president of the university is Sabah Ibrahim Hammadi who has a PhD in biology. It has six colleges and faculties which include the faculty of medicine, the college of veterinary science, the faculty of applied science, the faculty of administration and economics, the faculty of Islamic sciences and the faculty of law.   It provides both undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught by approximately 250 members of staff. Some two per cent of the staff are international and two per cent of the students are international. There are about 1,450 students and the student to staff ratio is 6:1.  It is a co-educational higher education institution The university has established good connections with many other universities around Iraq including the University of Kirkuk, the University of Anbar and the University of Baghdad.  The city of Fallujah is located approximately 70 km west of the capital of Baghdad.

A Research Technician position is available in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital. This is a newly constructed, dedicated research building that is the result of a significant fund-raising campaign. It builds on a 40 year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton, and represents the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK. The activities in this centre span from pioneering discovery science to applied research and preclinical modelling and, crucially, onto first-in-human clinical trials and beyond. The centre houses world-class research facilities, including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit. The position is associated with the laboratory of Professors Ward and Ober. Their interdisciplinary research program is dedicated to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and autoimmunity. This research has led to several therapeutics that are currently in advanced clinical trials or approved for clinical use. The group also develops advanced microscopy techniques for the evaluation of novel therapeutics in cellular environments. Their research is supported by major grants from the Welcome Trust, Cancer Research UK and support from collaborating biopharma companies. The appointee will be highly motivated and excited by the challenges involved in supporting a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of researchers. The appointee’s role will be to provide support with the day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing technical support for the experimental work of post-doctoral fellows, research scientists and graduate students, combined with the ordering and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and supplies. The position holder will be expected to be familiar with biosafety and other regulatory processes and follow these procedures as necessary. It is essential to have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. The role requires the ability to plan and organise your workload, work well under pressure and communicate effectively and professionally with other laboratory members. A scientific knowledge in a biological field equivalent to B.Sc. level is extremely desirable. The post-holder will possess relevant academic qualifications and work experience as well as good IT skills. The position is for one year. The Role and Department The Department's undergraduate curriculum is notable for its historical and cultural breadth, combining compulsory modules in Theory, Shakespeare and an independent Dissertation, with a range of period-based modules taught by lectures and tutorials, and research-led special topic semininars. There are thriving MA programmes in English Literary Studies and in Creative Writing, and a lively community of PhD students. Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in Early Modern Literature. This is a 1.0 FTE position for 12 months only. The successful applicant will: Teach undergraduate tutorials in Introduction to Drama (Level 1) and seminars on John Milton (Level 2). Potentially contribute to Renaissance Literature and/or Shakespeare. Deliver lectures as required in these areas. Supervise Level 3 undergraduate dissertations. Potentially supervise MA theses. Contribute to lively and stimulating small group teaching, in person. Undertake assessment and examination of UG and MA student work, in and beyond Early Modern Literature. Act as an Academic Advisor to a group of UG students. Participate in the meetings of the Department as appropriate. Pursue opportunities for personal development. The post-holder will report to the Head of Department. Career development opportunities will be offered. Teaching Fellowships offer the opportunity of valuable experience to those early in their academic careers and the University is keen to maximise the benefit to as many people as possible.The post of Teaching Fellow will involve a significant teaching load, which may extend into the summer period, and there may be related scholarship and the opportunity for administrative duties which relate to education and pedagogy. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with strong expertise in computational and systems biology to lead the integrative modelling components of our NHMRC-funded project. This role is central to redefining the STAT3 signalling dogma by mapping its time-, stimulus-, and cell lineage-resolved interactome using cutting-edge technologies, including unbiased proteomic mapping (APEX2), iPSC-derived lineages, and functional genomics (CROP-Seq). The successful candidate will be responsible for the integrative analysis of large-scale multi-omics datasets and the development of predictive computational models to identify complex regulatory mechanisms of STAT3 signalling networks and pathway rewiring in varying biological contexts. Work that matters The Integrative Network Modelling Group within the Computational Systems Oncology program at SAiGENCI sits at the intersection of mathematics, computation, and cancer biology. We develop mechanistic, predictive models of cellular decision-making to address both fundamental and translational challenges in oncology, including drug resistance, pathway rewiring, and the discovery of new therapeutic vulnerabilities. Beyond cancer specifically, our research explores broader questions regarding cell fate decisions, the hidden dynamics of complex signalling networks, and their underlying regulatory mechanisms. Our approach is deliberately cancer-agnostic, focusing on principles that generalize across various tumour types while exploring the governing and design principles that dictate complex signalling behaviour. A defining feature of our group is the tight integration of dynamic network modelling with experimental and clinical insight, enabling us to move beyond mere description and toward robust, actionable prediction. The Role and Department The Role You will work closely with PI Michael Magee to deliver research objectives of the grant proposal CONUREP. This will include research discussions, research, dissemination of research (writing, seminar talks), and active participation within the research group of the PI.
