The University of Eldoret is based in Eldoret, Kenya. 

It was founded in 1946 as a farmer training centre, it became a teacher training centre in 1984 and a campus of Moi University in 1990.

In 2010 it reached university college status as Chepkoitel University College. It gained independence along with full public university status in 2013.

In 2014 it added a campus in Eldoret’s central business district. 

It has schools of agriculture and biotechnology, business and management science, economics, education, engineering, environmental science, human resource development, and natural resource management.

 A new fish genomics laboratory was opened in 2023. 

The university has a partnership with the European Business University of Luxembourg to offer qualifications in artificial intelligence in April 2024.

Public Health Discipline Group The Flinders Public Health Discipline Group is situated within the College of Medicine and Public Health. We aim to promote healthy communities and healthy environments and reduce health inequities, particularly through enhancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. We do so through our educational programmes, research, and engagement with communities and key public health stakeholders. We are driven by our values of social justice, health equity, inclusiveness and excellence. We are made up of nine disciplines: Population Health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Trials Research Unit, Behavioural Health, Injury Studies, Point of Care Testing and National Centre for Education and Training in Addiction (NCETA). About the Senior Lecturer Role (Level C) As a Senior Lecturer in Public Health or Health Economics, you will play a pivotal role within the College of Medicine and Public Health, contributing to high‑quality teaching, research, and industry engagement. Working within a diverse and collaborative discipline group, you will lead and deliver innovative learning experiences, drive impactful research aligned with the College’s strategic priorities, and foster strong partnerships that enhance outcomes for students, the University, and the broader community. The research programme is called “Metals for a Green Ireland: Developing innovative mineral systems and exploration tools” and is focussed on the provision of the critical and strategic raw materials required for the green transition, with a focus on sedimentary basins. The research group will initially comprise 13 members from senior research fellows to PhD students, involves field sites on three continents and collaboration with industry and other stakeholders. This Research Fellow will lead a work package “Georesources and Society” and will be co-supervised by Assoc. Prof. Geertje Schuitema, School of Business. Visualising, interpreting, and utilising the sub-surface is a fundamental skill in the geosciences. Social scientists are experts in risk perceptions, risk communication and decision-making. The aim of this interdisciplinary project is to understand how different stakeholders perceive the subsurface, how they assess the risks of sub-surface usage (e.g. mining or geothermal energy) and how they use these perceptions, including potential biases, to form attitudes and make decisions. In Ireland, what type of use of the sub-surface is acceptable, by which stakeholders and in which contexts? Which values underpin these decisions? Finally, what kind of information do stakeholders need to have to feel confident in the use of the sub-surface for georesource purposes? The aim of this project is to provide empirical data that facilitates decision making. The results of this will feed into the design of interventions that aim to increase trust and confidence of stakeholders in decisions involving georesources. The purpose of the role is to deliver a specific research project. The role allows the Research Fellow the professional development opportunity to demonstrate the capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. The role allows the Fellow to assemble a portfolio of independent achievement and render themselves competitive for tenured academic positions or senior scientific roles in industry. In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project: Lead the day-to-day management of the project including data management, ethics approvals and delivery of milestones and deliverables Use appropriate methodologies e.g. empirical surveys, interviews, focus groups to collect data for analyses Analyse data using appropriate research analysis techniques and analysis software Build and maintain appropriate relationships with other academic researchers, funders, industry and government officials. About You With your well-developed sales-orientated approach to customer service, you will drive engagement and increase interest in study pathways at Flinders University by supporting students from initial inquiry.
