The University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder) is a public research university in Boulder, Colorado, established in 1876.

Situated at the foot of the scenic Rocky Mountains, students of the university can enjoy incredible views from campus and take advantage of a range of outdoors pursuits (Boulder has 300 miles of bike routes, and a multitude of national parks and forests, as well as downhill and cross-country ski areas).

The university’s motto, from the original Greek, reads ‘Let Your Light Shine’.

Over the years, a number of Nobel laureates, astronauts and MacArthur Fellows have been linked with the university, either as students, researchers or members of the faculty. The American actor Robert Redford, who founded the internationally celebrated Sundance Film Festival, is an alumnus of the university.

The university has been ranked by Forbes as the 18th the most entrepreneurial university in the nation. According to the 2015 US News & World Report, the university also ranks within the top 10 in the fields of aerospace engineering, ceramics, environmental law, geology, physical chemistry and quantum physics.

CU-Boulder describes itself as having one of the most active college campuses in the US, with athletics and outdoors projects playing a central role in the student experience.

Its sports teams are known as ‘Buffaloes’ and the university is a member of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

As well as sports clubs, CU-Boulder is home to more than 300 organisations and clubs. Boulder is also served by a plethora of museums and galleries, such as the centrally located Colorado University Art Museum, and students are encouraged to ‘serve the greater good’ through volunteerism and civic engagement.

The university’s alumni network is in excess of 270,000 who comprise an online community and go by the name of the 'Forever Buffs Network.'

PURPOSE We are seeking a dynamic and respected science leader motivated by delivering impact and shaping the future of UK environmental research. In this pivotal role at the heart of NERC and UKRI, you will lead a major research and innovation portfolio, managing a large team and establishing robust governance to deliver world-leading science that supports economic growth, informs government priorities, and benefits society. You will shape programmes, influence system-wide priorities, and translate scientific ambition into tangible outcomes through collaboration across UKRI. As Executive Director of Science, you will combine strategic and intellectual leadership to drive curiosity-led research, strengthen the talent pipeline, enhance knowledge exchange and commercialisation, and oversee digital and data outputs, ensuring alignment with government priorities and the UK’s industrial strategy. MAIN OUTPUTS AND ACTIVITIES Reporting directly to the NERC Executive Chair you will have responsibility for: Budget delivery of over £300m per year of UKRI’s advancing knowledge, talent and NERC-led areas of UKRI’s wider priorities budget supporting research institute outcomes. You have shared responsibility for a further £150m with the NERC Chief Operating Officer. ·Staff the leadership management and development of c.80 staff, and an opportunity to shape your team to best deliver against your responsibilities. Advancing knowledge through a well-designed programme of curiosity-driven research, talent and skills funding with a view to increasing the rate of conversion of curiosity-driven research (UKRI priority bucket 1) into societal outcomes including innovation and growth (UKRI priority buckets 2 and 3). Data-driven investments in scientific infrastructure to deliver NERC’s current and future science needs, in order that NERC can effectively task its research centres to deliver the long-term data to support the evolving needs of the environmental science community, as well as working with the Chief Operating Officer and the centres to prioritise NERC’s investment in research equipment, facilities and infrastructure. Shaping collaboration across new UKRI programmes and aligning with UKRI policies and to inform the latest thinking to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NERC’s science funding. The Health Sciences unit is a World Health Organization collaborating centre, and our researchers are actively involved in several research centres at Tampere University. We are currently seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (levels 1–2) in Health Services Research for our School of Health Sciences. Job description We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished researcher and teacher for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Health Services Research, who will conduct scientific research, contribute to the advancement of the field of Health Services Research as a whole and provide research-based teaching in accordance with their professional level in Finnish and/or English. In addition, the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor participates in societal engagement and international collaboration within their field. Successful performance of the duties requires ability of research in health care systems and multidisciplinary collaboration. Key responsibilities will include: Explore innovative methods for food process optimization including the use of AI and machine-learning Develop and execute methods for characterizing and linking the texture and structure of alternative protein foods Design, execute, and interpret experiments independently. Author papers in high-quality journals and contribute to grant writing in areas that are related to the research. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as manage a team of junior researchers and students to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
