We are currently seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (levels 1–2) in Health Services Research for our School of Health Sciences. Job description We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished researcher and teacher for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Health Services Research, who will conduct scientific research, contribute to the advancement of the field of Health Services Research as a whole and provide research-based teaching in accordance with their professional level in Finnish and/or English. In addition, the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor participates in societal engagement and international collaboration within their field. Successful performance of the duties requires ability of research in health care systems and multidisciplinary collaboration. The position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor is a five-year tenure-track position. Successful completion of this term leads to a permanent appointment. All new employees undergo a six-month probationary period. Salary is based on the level of responsibility of the position and individual performance in accordance with the university’s salary system. The starting salary for a level 1 Assistant Professor is approximately €4,700–5,000 per month and for a level 2 Associate Professor €5,400–5,800 per month. The salary may also be higher depending on the background, experience, and performance of the person selected for the position. The faculty will agree with the successful candidate on a start-up package designed to facilitate the launch of research, career development and international collaboration. The package may include financial support and/or expert assistance, for example, in preparing ERC applications and organising research exchanges. In addition, extensive training and mentoring programs are available to support academic development. An Assistant Professor (level 1) has the opportunity to apply annually for seed funding for the early stages of independent research. An Associate Professor (level 2) has the opportunity to hire a doctoral researcher for their own research group for a maximum of four years. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary purpose of this role is to deliver on a collaborative research project, Proteins for Singapore (P4SG), where you will be part of the research team to establish and understand the structuration of algae/soybean/mung bean proteins for high quality alternative protein foods including through high moisture extrusion. Key responsibilities will include: Explore innovative methods for food process optimization including the use of AI and machine-learning Develop and execute methods for characterizing and linking the texture and structure of alternative protein foods Design, execute, and interpret experiments independently. Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigators (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables including periodic progress reports are met. Author papers in high-quality journals and contribute to grant writing in areas that are related to the research. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as manage a team of junior researchers and students to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor. The candidate should also have a PhD or other advanced degree in a food or engineering related field. We are looking for a Climbing Duty Officer to join the team covering all our opening hours, including weekday evenings and weekends. If you have an upbeat, energetic personality, you will find yourself in good company at Surrey Summit. As a Climbing Duty Officer, you will run sessions across all ages and ability levels, including our NICAS and Squad programmes and GCSE PE sessions for school groups. You will also be booking customers onto these sessions, all as part of a dedicated team of Instructors, receptionists and other Duty Officers. You will have regular opportunities for route setting on our roped and boulder walls. You will be a point of escalation for day-to-day problems the freelance team members might face, reporting back to the Climbing Duty Supervisor should anything require further escalation. Furthermore, you will oversee a specific area of responsibility tailored to your skillset to grow and develop under the guidance of the Climbing Duty Supervisor.
