University College Dublin (UCD) is one of Ireland's oldest universities, with a history dating back to 1854. It was originally founded as the Catholic University of Ireland by Cardinal John Henry Newman and was later re-established as University College Dublin in 1880.

UCD offers a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. At the undergraduate level, the university provides bachelor's degree programmes in agriculture, business, engineering, law, health and medicine, radiography, science and veterinary science among others.

For postgraduate students UCD offers a range of master's and doctoral programmes in arts and humanities, business, engineering and architecture, health and agricultural sciences, science, social sciences and law.

As a research-intensive university, UCD is involved in research in areas such as life sciences, engineering, technology, agriculture, sustainability, social sciences, and humanities.

Applications are invited for a lectureship/assistant professorship in Law and Technology at UCD Sutherland School of Law. UCD Sutherland School of Law is a European Law School in Ireland with an international outlook. Established in 1911, it is consistently ranked in the top 100/150 Law Schools in the world in the QS Rankings by Subject. The School currently offers 11 undergraduate and 11 postgraduate programmes, along with diplomas in specialised areas of law and criminology. The School’s academic body currently comprises 40 permanent faculty members, over 60 adjunct, occasional and visiting faculty, and 7 research fellows and postdoctoral researchers. The interdisciplinary character of the School is reflected in the four UCD research centres it hosts: the Centre for Constitutional Studies; the Centre for Human Rights; the Dublin European Institute; and the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The School is also home to six European Research Council (ERC) projects and has a thriving PhD community. The School wishes to appoint a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Law and Technology who will develop this area of the law and engage in research, teaching and academic administration within the School of Law. This will include the development and delivery of modules at undergraduate and graduate levels, the supervision of graduate students and the generation of publications in leading international peer reviewed journals and with leading academic presses in line with the academic mission of the School. The appointee will seek to engage with scholars across UCD. The School of Music at University College Dublin is pleased to invite applications from outstanding candidates for an Ad Astra PhD Scholarship in Digital (Ethno)musicology. The Ad Astra scheme involves students working under the supervision of an Ad Astra Fellow, a major recruitment initiative by University College Dublin. The Ad Astra Scholarships last for four years and includes an annual stipend of €25,000, a full fee-waiver, and an allowance of €4,000 per annum for research costs. Successful applicants must meet the University’s standard PhD admission requirements and be accepted into the School of Music’s PhD programme. Applications are invited in the following area: Digital (Ethno)musicology under the supervision of Dr. Abigail C. Lindo (abigail.lindo@ucd.ie). Start date: September 2026. We welcome applications from across a broad range of musicological and ethnomusicological topics beyond Western art music, especially with attention to 20th and/or 21st century Black Music and technology. Potential areas of focus include but are not limited to: Afrodiasporic sonic aesthetics and globalization Music production and sampling in the 21st century Hybrid and experimental music performances Social media soundscapes Alternative music and culture Songwriting and artificial intelligence Popular music industry, streaming, and commodification Sonic geographies of the Global South Intersectional approaches to music (including race, gender, ability, etc.) Musical genrefication and hierarchization Feminist, womanist, and/or queer music and worldmaking Blending creative practice and critical music research The primary criterion is that the applicant’s research should be innovative and of the highest quality. The successful applicant should have a background in ethnomusicology, digital musicology, sound studies, digital humanities, music pedagogy, and/or creative practice, and should have or be working towards a masters degree in ethnomusicology, musicology, or a related field.
