Explore more: www.polyu.edu.hk/hti The appointeeDuties Duties The appointees will be required to: (a) conduct research as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, as Principal Investigator; (b) provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level; (c) contribute to departmental service; and (d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates. Qualifications Applicants should: (a) have a PhD degree and a solid academic background in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to the following areas – Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Medical Imaging and Radiation Science, Medical Physics and Medical Data Science, particularly with research and teaching expertise in the related areas; (b) preferably have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience; (c) have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field; (d) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills; and (e) be highly proficient in written and spoken English. Our research aims to advance knowledge in all aspects of veterinary medicine and education. The role We have a part-time (0.6 FTE) 12-month maternity cover position available for an RCVS-registered veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with an enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge and experience with veterinary undergraduates. This role will support practice-based trained clinical mentors in the delivery of workplace-based clinical education, fostering the individual development, progression and evaluation of final year students toward attainment of day-one competences. Through regular and frequent practice visits to meet with practice clinical mentors and through the provision of one-to-one feedback and coaching of students, the appointee will form strong working relationships with a group of practice partners, assuring the quality of the clinical education experience. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to small group practical teaching, alongside lectures and tutorials to years 1-4 of the Veterinary Medicine programme. The full-time equivalent salary for this role ranges from £37,694 - £46,049 plus an additional 10% payment for continued RCVS membership. As this is a part time role, the pro rata 0.6 FTE salary (including 10% payment) ranges from £24,878 to £30,392 per annum. About you We are looking for someone with an intuitive passion for teaching. Prior academic experience is not a prerequisite, but some teaching experience is beneficial. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of equine first opinion practice. Due to the nature of the role and the geographical locale of our partner practices, this post would ideally suit someone based in the South East of England. There would be a requirement to be onsite in Guildford to teach, and the remaining time would be used to travel to our partner practices.
