The Europaeum is a network of 17 leading European universities committed to fostering cross-border intellectual exchange, developing the next generation of European thinkers, policy makers, and leaders. It runs an annual programme of high-impact academic events and the flagship Europaeum Scholars Programme, which brings together outstanding doctoral students from across Europe to work collaboratively on policy challenges. An Executive Director is now sought to lead the Europaeum into its next phase. The successful candidate will serve as the organisation’s senior external representative to academic leaders, funders, policymakers, and partners. They will work closely with member universities, and will lead a small, dedicated Oxford-based team. Priorities will include driving fundraising efforts, promoting institutional partnerships, strengthening the Europaeum’s visibility, ensuring smooth internal operations and safeguarding the long-term sustainability of the organisation. Strong candidates will bring experience leading small teams or projects in resource-constrained environments. Strong ambassadorial skills will be critical, as will an aptitude for partnership-building and fundraising. A good understanding of European higher education systems and academic cultures would be useful. The role is suited to an individual with intellectual presence, diplomatic skill, and a passion for making a difference to Europe by fostering the next generation of leaders and building greater collaboration between academia and policy making. The Executive Director could be appointed on a 0.6 FTE to 1.0 basis, with the expectation of a higher percentage for an individual who could combine the Executive Director role with a significant fund-raising role. This appointment at AOI grade will report to the ICT Infrastructure Manager. The Senior Network Specialist will be a technical lead in the design, development, operation and support of campus network services ensuring the security and availability of the network and ICT infrastructure services. Applicants should be aware that this is a role that supports critical infrastructure located on campus and as such, the successful applicant will be expected to work on campus to discharge their duties and on limited occasions it may also be necessary to work outside normal hours as is typical with roles involving critical infrastructure and services. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in campus and enterprise data centre networking, including wired and wireless (Wi‑Fi) services and modern network security technologies and design. They should have hands‑on experience managing a physical campus network environment. In addition, the candidate will be an experienced team leader and an effective collaborator, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The position of Senior Network Specialist will work as part of the Infrastructure Team in IT Operations and will also work with staff from across the Directorate to help plan provision with the aim of ongoing improvements to our network service for a consistent user experience and overall cybersecurity posture. The role also will engage across the University as required advising on best practice network usage and service. The Higher Education landscape is complex and presents a number of challenges for network services while safeguarding data and users. The operating environment is hybrid in nature, with on premise and cloud provision for both staff and student and for managed and unmanaged devices. The School of Innovation has been newly established by the University to provide interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary education programmes in the area of innovation and technology.   The appointee will be responsible for developing and leading educational programmes at the School of Innovation in the areas of design, technology and entrepreneurship. He/She is expected to enrich educational programmes through engagement with industry and community partners, and to enrich student innovation projects through mentoring and partnership. Additionally, he/she will facilitate technology translation at the School through venture creations and industrial partnerships. Applicants should possess: a Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Science or a related field; at least 10 years of experience working in and contributing to startup ecosystems, including accelerators, incubators, training and mentoring; a proven track record in contributing to the innovation and technology sector, as evidenced by international awards and industry recognition; substantial experience in technology development and translation as evidenced by patents and startup companies; and extensive experience in leading and delivering educational programmes in innovation design and entrepreneurship. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of the gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
