University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore was set up on a 1300-acre site in 1964, then in 1986 it was divided with the spin-off of UAS Dharwal.
It continues to operate through a network of six affiliates, with colleges of agriculture at Bengalaru, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagara, the college of agricultural engineering and the college of sericulture at Chintamani, which since 1995 has been the only college in Asia offering a four-year degree in sericulture.
Some 60 per cent of undergraduate students receive full tuition fee reimbursement while around half or postgraduate students reimbursed all of their tuition fees.
Undergraduate degrees are offered in agriculture, sericulture, food technology, agricultural engineering, biotechnology, agricultural business management, and food, nutrition and dietetics.
