About the Job We are seeking an experienced professional who is familiar with working with people with disabilities in a large, complex organisation. Based within the Disability & Dyslexia Team in Student Services, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of advice and guidance to students, professional services and academic colleagues. You will also be responsible for arranging and coordinating support for disabled students. Key responsibilities: To provide comprehensive advice, support and guidance to students and applicants with disabilities/neurodivergent conditions and to liaise with staff and other agencies to secure the support that students require. Providing advice and guidance to disabled students/applicants, both on and off campus, including remote and collaborative partner settings, with occasional evening and weekend work. Assess the interaction of a student’s disability with the academic environment and develop plans for reasonable adjustments based on professional recommendations. Liaise with academic and support staff to facilitate appropriate study, assessment, and environmental adaptations, including temporary adjustments for illness, injury, and pregnancy. Support students in applying for Disabled Students’ Allowances and liaise with external agencies to secure necessary funding and support. Deliver staff training on disability awareness, legal responsibilities under equality legislation, and keep up to date on best practices in supporting students with disabilities. About You We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of the responsibilities placed on Higher Education Institutions by the Equalities Act and of the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) process. Additionally, you should have a sound knowledge of the communication and learning needs of students with disabilities/neurodivergent conditions in Higher Education and of applications of technology to neurodivergent conditions and disabilities within an HE environment. Finally, you should have substantive experience of providing advice, information and guidance to adults with disabilities/neurodivergent conditions preferably in the context of HE/FE or other large organisations and experience of providing learning support to students with disabilities. In this dynamic role, you will support Flinders Online students across the entire student lifecycle, providing high‑quality guidance on enrolment, course requirements and university processes.
