Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakartaand has a history that dates back to 1951 with the establishment of the State Islamic Higher Education Institution, formed from the nationalisation of the Faculty of Religion at the Islamic University of Indonesia. It later became the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Sunan Kalijaga in 1965 and was granted full university status in 2004.
The university is located in Sleman, within Indonesia’s Special Region of Yogyakarta. The campus includes lecture halls, mosques, research centres, and student facilities, forming an integrated environment that combines religious, academic, and community life.
