Founded on November 10, 1954, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has grown into one of the country’s most distinguished institutions of higher learning. Location
UNAIR operates across five campuses in the hearts of East Java, each supporting the university’s academic and institutional missions:
- Dharmahusada Campus (A) – Health and medical sciences.
- Dharmawangsa Campus (B) – Social sciences and humanities.
- MERR Campus (C) – University central management, science, and technology.
- Gresik Campus
- FIKKIA Campus, Banyuwangi – Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Natural Sciences.
Research and Publications
Conducting research for global impacts, UNAIR has done 491 collaborations with 171 institutions in 49 countries all over the world. With the support of 196 research groups, 12 research centers, UNAIR transforms knowledge into real-world solutions and elevates well-being, ranging from tropical diseases and stem cell science, to green economy and patient safety.
As of May 2026, UNAIR has published 16 books and manages 20 journals indexed Scopus; 1 Journal in ESCI Web of Science; 83 Journals listed in DOAJ; and 97 Journals Indexed in SINTA. The full journal list is available at e-journal.unair.ac.id
Contributions
UNAIR contributes to scientific advancement, including:
- INAVAC, Indonesia’s homegrown COVID-19 vaccine
- Vaccines for African Swine Fever (ASF) and Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)
- Dentolaser for periodontitis, dental caries and foot canal or endodontic infections
- Excelzyme, consortium of enzymes to optimize agricultural waste.
- Allergenic extract for diagnostic and allergen immunotherapy tools.
- PUA-Skin for skin cells regeneration.
- Electric vehicles for sustainable transportation.
These breakthroughs exemplify UNAIR’s dedication to advancing science for societal benefit.
Global Network
UNAIR is also a founding member of the World University Association of Community Development (WUACD), a global initiative launched in 2018 with 17 member universities, now expanded to 38 institutions worldwide. WUACD aims to improve the quality and reach of community service on a global scale.
