About Marche Polytechnic University

Basic information and contact details for Marche Polytechnic University

Marche Polytechnic University is a public university situated in the Italian city of Ancona. It was founded in the autumn of 1969.

The institution, which was formerly known as University of Ancona, started its teaching as part of University of Urbino, but became state recognised independent entity in 1971.

It is considered one of the most prominent Italian higher education institutions due its outstanding teaching methods and its focus on students. The university offers over 50 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in subject areas including economics and agriculture.

The university campus is divided into three main parts, which is home for School of Agriculture; School of Economics; School of Engineering; School of Medicine and Surgery and School of Sciences. Its campus was recently re-constructed to ensure that students receive adequate teaching and easily reach every department by foot.

The institution's administrative centre is located in the center of the city at Piazza Roma, also home to the Administration and Rectorship. Other administrative bodies are also located in buildings nearby.

Some of university’s most attractive facilities are the newly built sports complex, which was constructed at the place of the former School of Medicine and Surgery demolished after a landslide in the 1980s.

The institution has a number of foreign students, and provides annual scholarships and fee wavers to students who would like to pursue a degree for the first time.

As one of the largest ports in Adriatic Sea, Ancona is attractive destination for students who want to go sightseeing around the long coastline, learn more about regional history and become familiar with a vibrant nightlife.
