This role will be based in Durham with time spent at Durham's overseas partnerships, initially in China (up to 180 days per year). The role will be managed by Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD) and involve leading and coordinating the design and delivery of the EAP provision. We welcome applications from those with teaching and scholarship interests in the broad field of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and/or Academic Language and Literacies in a higher education context, and we are particularly eager to hear from applicants with experience of developing high-quality materials/learning resources in range of formats (including online) and the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders including academic departments. Key responsibilities: To oversee the delivery of the EAP provision under the leadership of Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD). To take specific responsibility for curriculum and assessment development, demonstrating innovation in educational practice to enhance the quality of the educational environment in the Department and wider University in support of our continuing emphasis on international excellence as well as equality, diversity and inclusion. To deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials at undergraduate levels, as well as engaging in related activity such as assessment. Engage in pedagogic activity at Departmental level that supports a high quality, academic professional community of practice within the Department and beyond. Maintain an active membership and engagement with a professional body (e.g. BALEAP, HEA or discipline-specific bodies). Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree preferably in a Social Sciences, Business Management or related disciplines. They should have at least a combination of 5 years of professional, teaching and/or research experience, in Corporate Sustainability, Value Chain Management, Sustainability-related Disclosure or Circular Economy. Preference will be given to those who are accredited professionals with Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting related accreditations. These may include, but not limited to, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Professional Certification, Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Certificate, European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS). Experience in teaching programme development and management will be an advantage. The appointee will contribute to the overall teaching and action research effectiveness in a wide spectrum of sustainability-related activities at the Centre, and be responsible for curriculum planning and development, validation and accreditation of new and/or existing programmes, and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He/She will also support the work of the Academy for Sustainable Communities established under the Centre and perform other teaching and research-related duties as assigned by the Director. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At the current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Examinations Invigilator – 0667-26 Primary Location (Regularly): Highfield Campus  Department: Student & Education Services, Exams & Awards Team  Salary: paid at £12.90 p/h. Start date: 4th May 2026 (This is the date online training will be available). Would you like to work as an Examinations Invigilator for the University of Southampton during the 2025/26 academic year and beyond? Exams are run in January, May/June and August. If you have applied previously and carried out Invigilator work for us before, you do not need to re-apply.  We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and motivated people who want a flexible job that can fit around other commitments. Invigilators must be reliable, professional and in general good health. They need to have a clear voice and must be able to relay procedures and regulations calmly to students, in a firm but kindly way. Full training will be given prior to work being undertaken. We see the invigilators role as 50-50 balancing the requirements of academic integrity and supporting student welfare. We expect candidates to show respect to all students and staff and to follow policy and procedures to deliver in their role. You must be fully committed to the role and complete all the online training modules before you can invigilate. You will then be supported in your role with your exams induction, team leader guidance and collegiate support.
