Universidade Cuíto Cuanavale is in the province in the south-eastern corner of Angola which has borders with both Zambia and Namibia. 

It has five departments – biology teaching, maths teaching, nursing, tourism management, and management information technology. These are divided across three campuses.

The Higher Polytechnic Institute is based at the provincial capital Menonge, the School of Pedagogy at Cuito Canavale and the Institute of Scientific Research and Development at Calai, close to the border with Namibia.

The Position We now invite applications for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor in Developmental Psychology in the Faculty of Education.   Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will be closely affiliated with the Early Childhood Development and Education area.  He/She will be expected to develop and sustain an active and productive research programme, demonstrated by publications in prestigious outlets and awards of external funding, and contribute to leading the development of vibrant teaching programmes. The appointee will mentor and nurture the next generation of scholars and researchers, supervise research postgraduate students, engage in collaborative research, develop and maintain positive relations with relevant community outreach organizations, and assume high-level service/administrative responsibilities. Essential Requirements Applicants should possess (i) a Ph.D. degree in Developmental Psychology or a closely related field, with expertise in early language, cognitive, and/or social-emotional development, professional development of early years and primary school educators, the measurement of early childhood development and learning, the role of family, school, community, and global and technological contexts in early childhood development, or other related areas; (ii) a distinguished record of scholarship and research, including an established track record in publications and external grant funding; (iii) experience in advising students at various levels; (iv) outstanding academic leadership capabilities; (v) a strong commitment to mentoring early career researchers; and (vi) evidence of community engagement.  Preference will be given to those with experience in or commitment to working with cross-disciplinary research teams.  What We Offer The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years initially, to commence on August 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract. Outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment with tenure. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. As we grow our student cohort and build a scalable, forward-thinking careers provision, you will play a key role in shaping what comes next. Reporting to the Senior Careers Consultant (Undergraduate), you will design, deliver and manage the core careers programme—workshops, webinars and supporting materials—and provide high-quality advice and guidance through 1:1s, small-group sessions and large workshops. You will also lead a small team of proactive student career coaches who help co-design, promote and deliver elements of our provision; this is a new and developing area with room for creativity and influence. This role is ideal for someone who has a real passion for coaching others and thrives in an environment that is still evolving and where you can help shape the structure as we grow. About us The King’s Health Partners Clinical Trials Office is a collaboration between King’s College London, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. It was set up to provide a single interface for those wishing to conduct clinical trials within the partner organisations, and to ensure that there are common, efficient processes for the set up and administration of clinical trials. About the role The post-holder will conduct clinical trial monitoring activities (including the initiation phase, routine phase, and close-out phase) of clinical trials sponsored or co-sponsored by King’s Health Partners (KHP) Partner Organisations: Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The post-holder will ensure adherence to approved protocols and undertake effective source data verification. The post will operate within the CoSTAR National Lab led by Royal Holloway University of London with Pinewood Studios, BT, University of Surrey, Abertay University, Disguise, National Film and Television School and Surrey County Council.  The role is funded until January 2027, with an extension likely to be granted. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.  The successful candidate will work closely with industry and academic partners within the CoSTAR Network. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in AI for creative industries, while shaping best practices for compute usage and training.  Key responsibilities include:  Supporting CoSTAR R&D activities including the planning and carrying out of specific activities, often in collaboration with colleagues and partners.  Supporting onboarding and troubleshooting activities for CoSTAR AI compute as well as gathering feedback from users. Developing and maintaining key documentation and training materials for the CoSTAR AI Compute infrastructure in collaboration with the wider Surrey Research Computing Services team.  Delivering training sessions for CoSTAR compute users both locally and online.  Leading and collaborating with the CoSTAR Creative AI team, partner Universities and industry across on joint research, development and integration to develop new tools and technologies.  Supporting CoSTAR industry partners in using the CoSTAR AI compute and the development of AI models and applications.  Pursuing and advocating responsible and open research and innovation to ensure ethical, fair and inclusive advances in science, technology and use of data.  Continually update knowledge, develop skills and stay up to date with current research trends and best practice in software development. Undertake liaison with external organisations including equipment manufacturers, steering committees, associated academic facilities and commercial users.  Maintaining links to the central RSE team and ensure sharing of best practice and knowledge within the Surrey RSE community.  About you We are looking for applicants who hold a Master's degree in computer science, electronic engineering, or a related subject. A strong background in software development and experience in one or more of the following areas is essential:  Experience in software development in topics such as computer vision, audio signal processing, machine learning, deep learning, and/or sensor systems.  Experience in collaboration and technology transfer to partners outside of academia.  Ability to work independently or in a team, excellent organisation and time management.  Excellent writing and communication for varying levels of technical/non-technical audience.  Desirable attributes include:  Skills and experience of development using languages such as Python and C++ with relevant computer vision, signal processing, machine learning and/or deep learning tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, OpenCV etc.).  A track record of publishing academic papers, open-source software tools and/or datasets.
