The Faculty of History and the Arts invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) of Hellenistic History  (Chair) starting on 1 October 2027. The Institute of Ancient History in the Department of History studies the Mediterranean world and western Eurasia from the third millennium BCE to Late Antiquity. Within these broad chronological and spatial limits, the successful candidate will cover the history the Hellenistic World. They are expected to participate in the interdisciplinary activities of the Department of History and the Faculty of History and the Arts and pursue an ambitious programme of research and teaching. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program. As Programme Lead for Software Engineering, this full-time role is expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as the supervision of honours, graduate and postgraduate students. The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor will be expected to maintain professional associations, establish and promote collaborations with industry, and contribute to outreach events. We are seeking to grow our Software Engineering department with the addition of a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor who enhances our research strengths, creates engaging teaching experiences, and contributes to our outreach programmes. We are especially interested in appointing an experienced academic who can provide leadership in integrating emerging AI tools and methodologies into our software engineering programme. The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD and have demonstrated teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including successful supervision of Masters and Doctoral students, supported by a strong track record of securing competitive research funding. Additionally, experience leading a team of academic colleagues is strongly preferred, as well as a willingness to contribute to both our Hamilton and Tauranga programmes. Who are we? - Ko wai mātou? The Teaching and Learning Specialist reports to the Director of the Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning. The Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Learning (HBCTL) partners with faculty, academic staff, and collaborators across NYU Abu Dhabi to advance inclusive, innovative, and evidence-informed teaching that supports student learning, belonging, and success. Key Responsibilities 1. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Conduct and apply research on teaching and learning to inform instructional practices and institutional initiatives Translate evidence and data (e.g., student and faculty feedback, surveys, learning analytics metrics) into actionable insights and resources Contribute to the strategic development and dissemination of research-informed teaching practices within and beyond the institution 2.
