Abstract: This research assistant focuses on the design, prototyping, and testing of bio-inspired drones, inspired by the aerodynamics and adaptability of natural flyers such as birds and bats. The candidate will contribute to the mechanical design, composite fabrication, and experimental validation of UAV structures, integrating morphing wings and additive manufacturing processes for high-performance and energy-efficient drones. Keywords: Morphing wings, composites, additive manufacturing, aerodynamics, UAV design. Objectives: The main objective is to support the development and validation of morphing drone prototypes by combining structural optimization, lightweight design, and experimental testing. The research assistant will: Participate in CAD/CAE modeling and structural optimization of UAV frames. Contribute to fabrication using composite and polymer additive manufacturing. Prepare and execute aerodynamic, vibration, and endurance testing campaigns. Assist in assembling and calibrating morphing-wing UAV prototypes. Methodology: Design and Simulation: ABAQUS, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or COMSOL for topology optimization and aerodynamic modeling. Fabrication: Composite layup, 3D printing (FDM/SLA), and assembly of drone airframes. Testing: Wind tunnel, fatigue, and flight tests for mechanical and aerodynamic validation. Data Processing: Documentation, data analysis, and contribution to reports/publications. Expected Outcomes: TRL 5 UAV prototype. 3 Q1 publications and one patent contribution. Workflow for morphing UAV design established at UM6P. Profile of the Research Assistant Candidate & Application Materials Engineering degree (Bac+5) or equivalent in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering. Background in CAD/CAE, structural design, or composite materials. Practical experience in additive manufacturing or mechanical testing is an advantage. Post: Context In an ever-changing world, where discoveries and technological upheavals in both the applied and fundamental sciences are almost a daily occurrence, one chasing the other, the role of the philosopher of science is essential and necessary. The philosopher's work must shed light on and put into perspective the conclusions of scientific discoveries, what they reveal about our understanding of the World, what they tell us about the interaction between Science and Society, but also by examining the truth of scientific theories (this is the role of the epistemologist) and the impact of putting them into practice (this is the role of the researcher in ethics). Supervision The post-doctoral researcher will be co-supervised by Professor Ali Benmakhlouf, a specialist in the philosophy of ethics and the philosophy of logic, and Professor Abdelouahab Rgoud, a specialist in the philosophy and epistemology of mathematics and the physical sciences. Job description The ACPPS-UM6P Research Center has an opening for a one-year renewable Post-doctoral position (October 2025-October 2026) in the research field of contemporary philosophy of science. The research project proposed by the candidate could be in one of the following fields (without necessarily being limited to it): Philosophy/epistemology of contemporary physics Philosophy/epistemology of contemporary mathematics Philosophy/epistemology of contemporary logic. Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Selection Applicants send a full CV, a motivation letter (1 page), a sample of academic writing (term paper, or chapter of thesis max 30 pages), a research statement (1 to 2 pages), two letters of recommendation, and full transcripts for academic transcripts for their previous studies. Expected Start Date: October 2025 Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in vanadium and rare-earth element (REE) recovery, thermodynamic modeling, and materials characterization to join a cutting-edge research team. The project focuses on developing sustainable and optimized processes for vanadium extraction and purification, with the goal of enabling large-scale redox flow battery deployment for energy storage. Scope of Work The successful candidate will work on: Designing and optimizing extraction processes for vanadium from primary and secondary sources (e.g., slags and industrial wastes). Developing purification pathways to produce battery-grade vanadium for energy storage applications. Applying thermodynamic modeling tools (CALPHAD, FactSage) to simulate vanadium phase behavior and guide process improvements. Performing advanced characterization of vanadium-bearing materials to understand their transformation and recovery mechanisms. Evaluating environmental sustainability via Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and techno-economic analysis. Contributing to the integration of vanadium flows within a circular economy model for battery materials. Key Responsibilities Development and optimization of hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical vanadium recovery strategies. Advanced thermodynamic simulation using CALPHAD-based methods, including phase equilibrium modeling in multi-component systems. Comprehensive use of characterization tools, including: SEM, TEM, HAADF-STEM, XRD, and EDS for micro- and nano-scale phase analysis. LA-ICP-MS for ultra-trace elemental quantification. Proven proficiency in thermodynamic modeling using FactSage, CALPHAD, and complementary simulation platforms like Aspen Plus. In-depth knowledge of electron microscopy, spectroscopy, and structural analysis methods for complex materials. Familiarity with REE and vanadium chemistry, oxidation states, and redox equilibria. Desirable Competences Prior research on critical metals (e.g., V, Ce, La, Nd) in slag systems. Simulation of monazite and rare-earth phosphate precipitation from multi-component melts. Strong background in slag thermochemistry, particularly oxygen fugacity control and partition coefficient modeling. Job Title: IWRI - Postdoctoral researcher in Bioinspired circular conversion of multi-source biomass feedstocks for water-retentive agricultural systems Host Institute: Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), International Water Research Institute (IWRI) Field: Bioinspired Chemistry, Sustainable Materials, Water & Soil Interfaces Project Overview The International Water Research Institute (IWRI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research program dedicated to the development of bioinspired, circular-economy-driven materials for water retention, soil hydration, and sustainable agriculture. The project aims to design next-generation supramolecular materials derived from biomass for applications in water stress mitigation, nutrient retention, and soil regeneration. This work directly contributes to water scarcity resilience and climate-smart agriculture. Job Qualifications PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in sustainable processing of multi-source biomass feedstocks and/or development of biobased/bio-inspired materials. Strong experience in Biopolymers, modification, and supramolecular assembly. Experience in developing biobased hydrogels or hydrated colloidal systems for water retention, soil improvement, or controlled release applications. Design, synthesize, and optimize functional materials derived from renewable feedstock (marine and lignocellulosic) for applications in water retention, soil hydration, and nutrient stabilization. Conduct full physicochemical characterization: FTIR, UV–Vis, XRD, DLS, SEM–EDS, TEM, TGA/DSC.
