The role We are seeking to appoint a pro-active and well-organised individual to provide professional administrative support to the Surrey Space Institute (SSI). The role will support the Leadership Team (Director, Co-Directors and Head of Operations) with a wide range of activities, including diary management, organising board meetings and events, monitoring finances, compiling reports, and coordinating Institute activities such as training and seed funding calls. The postholder will act as a first point of contact for the Institute, managing queries and facilitating the smooth flow of information across the University and with external partners. They will play a central role in ensuring SSI operates efficiently and effectively, supporting the Institute’s mission in research, innovation, education, and knowledge exchange About you You will bring excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Ideally, you will have experience in providing high-quality administrative support in a Higher Education or research environment. You will be comfortable working independently, handling sensitive information, and prioritising across multiple projects, while also contributing as part of a small, collaborative team. Strong IT skills and a flexible, “can-do” approach will be essential. Full-time, Continuing position Salary HEW 10A ($152,131) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements Based at the Melbourne CBD campus About the Role The Senior Manager, Gender Based Violence (GBV) Prevention will lead the development and implementation of the University's Gender-based Violence Prevention framework and support other key gender equity related strategies. The purpose of the framework is to apply contemporary, evidence-based strategies to reduce the prevalence of gender-based violence with three streams: Primary prevention: developing and maintaining a robust culture of respect. Secondary prevention: targeted interventions aimed at those at risk of perpetrating or experiencing gender-based violence, and Tertiary prevention: ensuring the institutional responses to gender-based violence minimise further harm, prevent re-occurrence and ensure perpetrator accountability. The role will design and coordinate a whole of organisation culture change program of work involving a large and diverse group of stakeholders as well as providing support and expertise to other key university initiatives. The role is responsible for managing budgets from multiple sources, business as usual, Government funding and grants. It will also regularly develop proposals or business cases for specific projects or initiatives to attract additional funding. To be successful for this position, you'll have: Demonstrated leadership and management capability, ideally within a complex organisation. Demonstrated ability to identify, design, develop, and deliver a range of innovative and effective gender-based violence prevention projects at a high-level Demonstrated understanding of working in complex situation and strategic project management; through various project management methodologies, principles and practices, including but not limited to risk management, reporting and resource and financial management. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The Future Ship and System Design (FSSD) programme aims to develop strategic and innovative design capabilities for the maritime industry in Singapore and globally. Within this programme, Work Package WP2.2 focuses on research in several key areas: design Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), functional FMECA, advanced sensing techniques, sensor and operational data fusion, data analytics, and machine learning algorithms for condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and early fault prediction in electric vessels. The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to research in design FMECA, functional FMECA, and ship sensing, as part of the WP2.2 research team within the FSSD programme. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team members to manage and execute the project, ensuring that all deliverables are successfully achieved.  Key responsibilities in this project include: Developing an FMECA analysis solution that integrates condition monitoring data to update actual failure modes, effects, and severity assessments. Designing and conducting experiments to simulate various ship fault conditions, implementing sensing for data collection, and developing an equipment health monitoring system. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. The Research staff is to liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties as assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Have relevant knowledge in the areas of shipboard system design, FMECA and reliability analysis. Have a degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of sensing, FMECA, equipment health management and programming will be advantageous. Knowledge of intelligent decision agents based on graph neural network or similar will an advantage. Key Competencies Good knowledge in reliability analysis. Experience in FMECA and equipment health management will be advantageous. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work. Major Challenges Integrating Multidisciplinary Knowledge The role requires expertise across multiple domains—FMECA, sensing technologies, data fusion, data analytics, and machine learning. Combining these diverse skill sets to develop a unified and reliable solution can be technically demanding.
