Universidad del Caribe is a non-profit public university which was established in 2000 in Cancun, Mexico. This institute of higher education is largely focused on environmental protection, tourism and sustainability studies through an integrated approach and collaboration. The university has listed its main vision as to promote the economic, social and human development of Quintana Roo and Mexico. Located in the beautiful (and popular with tourists) city of Cancun, Mexico, the university offers academic programmes in areas of tourism, sustainability, environment, technology, innovation, business and public-social management. The university offers programmes in 11 undergraduate degrees, 11 graduate degrees and two doctorate disciplines. The university especially emphasises an integrated approach to education involving community involvement and flexible educational models. Regarded as one of the top public universities in Mexico, the Universidad del Caribe has been recognised by the Secretary of Public Education in Mexico as one of the top learning institutes in the nation. The university is considered a top destination for students wishing to study tourism and hospitality. Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related disciplines. They should have a strong quantitative background; experience in analysing epidemiological data using R, STATA, SAS or other statistical packages; demonstrated expertise in the analysis of large and complex datasets; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in longitudinal analyses, multilevel modelling, data visualisation, and state-of-the-art statistical and epidemiological models would be an advantage. The appointees will be primarily responsible for applied and methodological work in epidemiological and/or statistical research, and will work with a large population-based cohort with over 46,000 participants in 20,000 households. They will conduct power/sample size estimation; generate tables and figures for reports and presentations; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. The focus of one of the posts will include The World Health Organization World Mental Health Survey Initiative and the Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI), which is one of the largest cross-national mental health studies in the world. We seek high calibre highly motivated post-doctoral researchers to join our electronic textiles research program. The positions are funded by the EU (European Union) project: SoftIE – Materials for Sustainable Soft Technologies of Interconnected E-textiles, tackling a fundamental challenge; the lack of a robust connection and interconnects. You will be based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) and be part of an EU project consortia developing new materials and processes to achieve sustainable interconnected e-textile systems. You will work in the Printed Electronics and Materials Laboratory and other facilities. Comprehensive training and support will be provided by experienced users, enabling you to develop the skills necessary for the role. Prior experience with the equipment is not essential. You will be invited to travel to project meetings and dissemination activities across the UK and EU. The role will also involve supporting junior research staff and contributing to the planning and delivery of group outreach activities. Reasonable adjustments will be made to support candidates for whom travel may present challenges. The roles will involve research on the following topics. Novel printed copper ink formulations and other conductive materials. Novel sustainable adhesive materials.
